Hi, I’m a 48 yr old wheelchair user, with chronic spinal nerve pain and a messed up back. I was so self aware and gym body before I became disabled 6 yrs ago. Now, I’ve had no counselling to help the transition to being disabled plus being gay, no one talks about it. So how can I feel comfortable when everyone else avoids the subject of being gay and disabled

One more, 48 is not old yet. Reconstruct your body. I have ever railed by car when I was 13, hit by a car n motorcycle, almost killed by gangsters, drowned in the pool, but I fight all the pains. I can survive. And now I am 42. And YES I AM GAY

My best friend happens to have CP, he’s wheelchair bound and completely depends on maximum care from health care professionals. He requires hoisting out of his bed and requires maximum support in all areas of both his intimate/personal care and his day to day life. On the whole the level of professional support he’s given is good, but his care has to fall in within agreed time slots, so he can never have a lie in and his day is structured around his support. He is a young man, in his mid twenties and has a healthy libido. He’s never had a girlfriend and would dearly love to meet someone, fall in love and have children but he also knows the chances of that are very slim. He once joked that he’d settle for a good wank but can’t do that because it upsets the carers - they have complained about having to clear him up afterwards so he just doesn’t bother. I’ve had conflict with his carers over this issue and even complained to the government watchdog to no avail. The reluctance to have some private time has affected his emotional and psychological well-being, he can’t cope with the attitude of the carers. So now I pop in before I go to work to do his laundry whilst he knocks one out, I clean him up and get on my merry way and nothing further is said. Professionals shouldn’t be increasing barriers, they should be knocking them down or at the very least enabling an individual to overcome them. His parents are currently looking to employ male carers so this is no longer an issue.

I'm so glad I watched this video. Didn't realize that this was even a issue. I'm under the false impression that if your are a invalid; especially from the waste down, that there's no sexual/physical stimulation. Now, if I was a home health care aid, If i can clean up shit & urine; then I can surely clean up seamon. But I could understand a female home health care aid being repulsed by it. It's not what she signed up for. So it's great that you're willing to provide necessary support & freedom. Hey, being a invalid has got to suck. There's no nice way to state the obvious. Any assistance & encouragement that we (the public/friends/neighbors) can provide; I'm sure is Greatly appreciated. Side Note: When my Mom had a short stay at a Rehabilitation Center, her room was across the hall from a young man who had been in a accident and lost some of his mobility. His girlfriend would visit and they would close the door to have sex. The female staff went bananas. They called security & lodged a formal complaint. Generally speaking, females in the healthcare industry are not sympathetic to Men's physical needs. In closing, my sex life always left a lot to be desired. I was never a muscle bound, hunky man. So I turned to porn to satisfy my physical needs. So please forgive me for suggesting Men with physical limitations do the same; with someone to clean up behind them.

I used to be a sexual health counsellor for the developmentally delayed, two of my clients were gay. I can appreciate what these guys are going through. It's hard because 1. you don't stop being sexual just because your body or mind work differently than most others do. And 2. you can't force an attraction, and genetically, whether gay or not - we're hardwired to select the "strongest" mate available. These men have wonderful attributes to offer a partner, as much as someone who is not disabled. I really feel for them, it's a super tough spot to be in.

I didn't search for this video; it found me. I do most of my deep thinking when I'm either taking a shower or washing dishes, and cumulatively that happens a few times a day, seven days a week. Lately I've been thinking back to a few decades ago and the men I knew. I remember the night he entered the club; the disco ball stopped spinning and the booming music dropped 50 decibels. I remember every article of clothing he was wearing and; he also had polio. I was too shy to approach because of fear of rejection; he was way too handsome! It took a loooong time before I worked up the courage to say hello and I swooned. We had an affair - no we had a love affair, but work obligations took us in opposite directions. He died years ago, and if I were to describe how wonderful and how he filled so many wants/needs/desires; it would come off like a made-up fable. He was 100% the man I loved and he was flawless. There's no arguing with what both men say about gay fickleness and the checklist that ultimately blinds us to the real world around us. I was a personal trainer, bodybuilding competition coach, a power lifter and coach with gold medals to my credit, but I wouldn't have traded Reinaldo for any of the gym denizens that surrounded me; they were empty shells. The two men in this videos are catches.

it's sad. I cant imagine the pain you must go through. My heart goes to you, truly. I am discriminated by many gay guys cuz im short and latino, and Im not either masc or fem, so I dont fit in any quadrant. Of course, my things dont even compare, but I wish I knew how much my heart goes out to you. Im 28 (so add age to the mix) now and have been single my whole life. Much of I think it has to do with my height 5'5". Then, my vison is getting worse by the age and sometimes I can barely sleep at night because the thought of me losing it to glaucoma scares me shitless (I have a low risk of it, but still). Even when I came out at like 22, no one has asked me out on like a date, date even since Ive been out. Ive been pretty depressed for as long as I can remember. Some days I barely want to leave my room, because I just cant deal with the pain. I hope you both find someone who will love you unconditionally. Being gay sucks man. Women can accept a lot of different straight guys for who they are, yet gay people have to want that Belami model or that guy that reminds them of their favorite straight, gay porn star, or that closeted football jock who plays quarter back and is 6'2", white, popular, wealthy family with a 9" package. Like being gay is a curse in itself, added on to the already troubles of the world. And I see this video is old, so add covid and being a lone during quarantine during 2021, and it just gets even better and better :(

It’s very interesting how sometimes people with exceptionality‘s can feel offended when others try to help them. I can imagine how one might feel, “ I just want to be left alone and not singled out because I’m different, I need to experience my own success.” Some of us who are givers have a compassion towards accommodating those we may see who are in someway limited. Try, So say hi, how’s it going, and talk about the general things we all do, it’s hot out today etc. If somebody wants help they’ll ask for it. Sometimes it’s good just to be quiet, share a smile.

Imperfection in a person is so much more attractive than what a 'perfect' specimen is. Gay men need to look below the surface and embrace the heart and soul of a man.

They are both so hot omg. Loving someone means accepting them in their full, so being disabled shouldn't be a problem. We live in a fucked up society, sadly. Queen Britney's cameo at the end made me smile, she really is someone most of the LGBTQ people look up to.

Both from the video and all comments with photos by a gay men with a disability are cute. ❤️ I have ASD, it's already hard find someone, I don't have self-esteem yet, in part I understand them. Experience we can all learn and find it, everyone just open their minds and love, sorry for my english.

It's a shame people cant see others as individuals and accept them for who they are. We have decent and caring black; white; disabled; rich; poor and gay and those in a specific category that may not be a nice person. I judge people on their decency and kindness. We all have souls, that should be all that matters.

It's true, gay men are OBSESSED with perfection. I'm no exception. Hearing their stories reminds me to forget the bullshit and see the humanity in everyone.

Unfortunately, sex in the disability community is not often talked about, we're not viewed as human einga with needs, wants and desires. We want to have loving relationships.

I dont think Health care should have to address sexual orientation. They should provide care regardless of Sexual Orientation, Race, or religion!

That's one of the things I've always hated about being part of the gay community , in your late teens to early 20s you want to make a good impression to meet new friends or possible bf or whatever , I'm 34 now and single , got mental health issues but I learned a long time ago as the guy with the glasses said you need to be perfect to fit in , if you aint 'hot' or skinny then you dont' fit in/ no one wants to be your friend ect , bit sad really but that's just the way it is sadly...

In my graduate degree classes, we watch videos on people who live with disabilities. Sometimes it’s so sexually isolating for disabled men that one may go to a gay. This is because they are included and interacted with. The Gay men show them attention, flirt with them and include them and befriend them. One fellow in the film said he’d rather be bisexual then be totally ignored by humanity. It’s a very challenging reality. Of course it’s a generalization however it draws attention to the situation.
