So far, I totally agree with everything you say and do, Simon. Your concept of trying to help the less fortunate to get back on their feet and sustain themselves is a great one. I try to practice that myself. But, who is available here to teach the locals how to take better care of the environment? In my area there seems to be no appreciation of the beauty of nature around them or how to maintain it. Nobody here to instruct people on how to properly recycle some products back into the soil. I've tried to encourage my wife and her family members to do so, to no avail. It appears I can take a horse to water, but I can't make it drink. Woe is me.😢 Three years or more back the barangay or the local government unit funded a program to install a set of three recycle bins (paper, plastic, metal) placed along the side of the road about every half kilometer or so apart. Three years later, the bins sit with little or no use. Nobody checks the bins. No follow-up plan in place to assure the bins were being used. What a waste of time and money! No one seems to care! I am very discouraged about it. I understand I'm a meddling old foreigner who should be minding his own business, except when money it comes to requiring more money to do another project on the property. Then I'm consulted. That's the life of an unappreciated foreigner in the Philippines at times. Just get used to it and go with the flow. It's still a 100X better than living in the USA.😮

That’s same as the barangay my wife is from- we paid for recycling bins, and now they aren’t used and the local officials go round a couple of times a year litter picking. I don’t think anyone collects from the bins.

The place looks like home, so it will get sorted when you feel like it 😂

If my income was 10x higher , I'd likely move to BGC , if only for better food.

Put your chickens in that area, they'll knock that down in no time and your eggs will be better

Good morning Simon, how much land do yoi have there for personal use. I am looking at getting .5-1 hectare to build a hobby farm, we all need something to maintain our sense of purpose. Cheers Aussie John

I think a lot of what you are saying is falling on deaf ears OR there is not enough comprehension involving some of your commenters.. But keep on doing what you are doing.. Happy Fathers Day for tomorrow mate..

We don’t have enough to do a hobby farm in my opinion ….. we have 1,400sqm in total with 3 dwellings already on the property. ….. so chickens, fruit and veg is our limit. I am trying to gain the field behind us which is another 3,000 sqm ….. then may be goats and more veg

Good morning Simon, i agree with everything you said. I have also witnessed many people here that have gone to hospital, had operations and have paid for everything and still passed away. So you are correct in saying that a health insurance will not necessarily save your life. In the end it is the insurance companies and the doctors that win and in the end you pass away.
