Lived there 3 months, if you are going there middle aged as a single man, it’ll be tough. There are different rules for the gringo at so many levels. Assimilation will be challenging, even with knowing Spanish and take many precautions. You will be blamed if anything is done in malice towards you by a Colombian. Why? Well, you gave opportunity, trust, or you decided to come to Colombia… that’s the mindset guys. In comparison to Mexico City, Buenos Aires, and Rio De Janeiro the people’s manners and etiquette is savage AF. I wanted to close line a moto f head many of times whizzing around the corner . I spent extensive months in all these countries, I got a good comparison. Medellin and the relationship with the gringo is bleak and they all know why you are here, you see it in their faces everyday. Do what you wish.

Andrew is obviously a good guy and excellent presenter, but don't follow his buddy's advice and walk around downtown at 3 a.m. wearing ear phones while thinking you "haven't a worry in the world." Let's hope that beer he's throwing back was one of several for the day, and that he didn't mean what he said. If he's serious then he'll get jacked again eventually. And though Andrew is slow to acknowledge this, safety is very often different for gringos. Some, mostly because of certain physical characteristics, simply can't blend in. They are ripe targets whether they are doing the "dar la papaya" thing or not. There's different dynamics involved, though of course Colombians are also victimized. When that happens they typically blame themselves, as that's all they have given that there's so little law enforcement. But even Andrew's buddy Joel admits that the gringo experience is different. He, as he acknowledges has a look that could at least pass for a South American, yet he also admitted that he's harrassed much more when walking around with an obvious North American. Beggars will wait outside a business all afternoon for us to come out, but not for Andrew. Thieves and every variety of dishonest person there profiles us as well, and yes, that does apply to guys like me that dress down, don't wear jewelry, and don't display phones in the street or larger bills when making purchases. And before anyone says "I've been there such and such many times and never had any trouble, and my friend can say the same," well that simply doesn't prove anything. It's a very small sampling of data while one's fortunes can change. Also government data is about useless as most robberies there go unreported. It's true that you can reduce risk, but you cannot eliminate it. As to the prostitutes, I personally see little difference between guys who seek these out and late 30s, 40s, 50s guys who use their economic advantages to leverage a cute young girlfriend. Polite arrangements are polite but arrangements nonetheless. Also those guys, though they are judging now, will probably also want to get some action in their 60s and 70s. They are headed there as well, and quickly if they last. Early 40s now and complaining about those "old" guys? Blink and you're 60. I promise. 😄😉 PS I want to take a moment to praise Andrew for his habit of publishing comments that offer real challenges to his content. Many screen their comments in order to control the narrative and avoid answering the tough questions. This creates a slanted picture that serves their own ends.🙃

I really appreciate this comment. You are absolutely right, my experience is very different from say a white person from the US or UK. Perhaps I need to make it more clear that I'm Colombian. In regard to the tricks and the pros, I really don't care. I've expressed that sentiment many times on my channel. It's legal here, it's one of the main attractions. Regardless, I'll keep doing everything to keep my self fit, hair transplant, plastic surgery, good diet, passive income, travel, etc. to attract real women at 50 or 60. One way or another, you're paying for it, lol.

@tashadfowler3465
4 ай бұрын
@MedellinBuzz it's kinda of disrespectful not saying the name of someone's home correctly when someone tells you that you're saying it wrong. Not humbling yourself and understanding projects a certain perception about you even to your target audience. Americans are just as picky about things being said properly to the point the term "learn English" is a known American phrase. It's just having a passive attitude to have about someone's home that they have pride in is just a not a good look. I'm sure you meant nothing by it but your target audience is a spectrum of people that culturally they don't share the same sentiments. So with that, best of luck with the channel.

@MedellinBuzz English is a collective of languages, so speaking in other tongues or pronouncing something correctly shouldn't be hard. But for languages that don't use certain vowels or letters, it may be more difficult. Saying the correct pronunciation is no different than English words, so YOU trying to make an ignorant point is hilarious. You seem to carry that same American attitude of privilege when it comes to other cultures, and someone correcting a simple misunderstanding makes your privilege feel threatened. Every country I've travel to, I take time to learn because there is a distinct difference in saying Punto and Puto, and with that ignorant reply you gave, you seemed to be acting like the latter. And when your life is as blessed as mine , luck nor likes are needed. Maybe my family or I will run into out there, and we can chop it up in person. Again, good luck with your channel. may you get everything you deserve in life 💛

Yes, $2,500 USD in Colombia is like having $9,000 per month in the U.S. Your money is 4X here, so with $2,500, you can afford to live a pretty good life. It will take time for you to adjust and find great deals on apartments, furniture, etc. At first, you'll probably rent a furnished apartment for a higher price, but the more you're here, the more you'll find better deals. It just takes time.
