Don't discount the suffering, it's just a little discomfort. The victims of this war in Ukraine are suffering. Women were raped and murdered, children were killed and maimed, prisoners were tortured. The situation in Russia is incomparable to the situation in Ukraine, so do not write about suffering. There is nothing to feel sorry for the Russians, this war continues thanks to them, it is ordinary Russians and their dreams of a great Russia that made Putin president and led to this tragedy, they are the murderers. Same as during 2WW Germany. Which of course does not mean that everyone is equally responsible, because there are exceptions as in the case of Hitler's Germans.

@@ЕвгенияМихайлова-ю1б Around 16,000 people are believed to have been killed from 2014 until the beginning of Putin's war in February this year. Around 7,000 soldiers on each side (Ukrainian and separatist) and 2,000-3,000 civilians. So, relatively not very many for a 8 year conflict. There simply has not been any genocide or mass killings of civilians in Donbass, before the now-ongoing war. However, since Putin invaded Ukraine in February, we don't know how many thousands or tens of thousands of civilians have been killed. In many cities, the Russians have destroyed practically every apartment building - as well as schools, hospitals etc - killing countless of thousands.

@@semipalatinsk1 If you like to talk about 2014 then you should talk about unconstitutional bloody armed coup in Kiev that East of the country didn't support. Kiev silenced a lot of people but couldn't silence Donetsk and Lugansk. Russia gave Kiev a chance with Minsk Agreements to reintegrate them back but Kiev wanted military solution. Alexei Danilov openly said that Zelensky deliberately rejected all options from Russia, Germany, France and was preparing for war since 2019. August 13 of 2014 Ukrainian pilot bombed children beach in Zugres with cluster bombs. Many people died obviously. Again, it was 2014 not 2022. That was the date when Ukraine was finished, when Ukrainian fascists felt complete freedom to kill some ruskies. If monuments don't suit you, if language doesn't suit you, holidays, history, names of cities and streets don't suit you then it means that you are building your state on a foreign land. What is happening in Russia, the way part of the population sides with Putin's ideology, shows quite clearly for us in the 21st century the dynamics of what happened in Germany prior and during WW2. It's a terrible thing that so many people don't realize: The worst atrocities are always sugar-coated in attractive nationalistic terms, often building on people's fears, to make it easy for the simple folks to feel positive about it and look the other way, ignoring what actually is happening, what actions and attitudes are encouraged towards other nationalities or undesired groups of people, and what the result is in terms of the direct cost of human lives.

Look in a mirror, it is we in the west that are living under totalitarianism. Soon our kids will belong to society. We are not allowed to express ourselves without serious self monitoring. And it is getting worse, not better. We Icelanders are losing a sovereignty gradually. Eventually we will either be a Puerto Rico of the US, a state, or a province in the EU. Our culture and infrastructure has been marketed and sold. So is out land and companies, soon our resources. Eventually we will just be a minority that will dither into a genome, nothing more, nothing less. The war in Ukraine has been brought on by the west, to believe otherwise is self delusion. First the ousting of the president, then the ban of his party, then the attack on Russian speakers. How would it go in Canada if Ontario banned French as an official language in Canada, including Quebec ? I am sure that would not go down quietly. Quebec would succeed, just like Donetsk and Lugansk did. Would get support from France and other French speaking countries. The Canadian Army would then invade Quebec, and would get assistance from the US and UK. France might intervene some years down the line, just like Russian intervened in Ukraine. 14.000 people died in Kiev Ukraine's war against the republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. Republics populated by Ukrainians, that perhaps identify as not being Ukrainian now, which doesn't surprise me. Then there is the threat of cleansing. Stepan Bandera, OUN and UPA are adored, respected and some Kiev Ukrainian units are modelled on them. What are Stepan Bandera, OUN and the UPA known for ? Their atrocities against Jewish and Roma folk, Poles and other minorities. Volhynia Massacres, this the Banderites know very well about, and do not shy from it. For they view it, just like the German Nazis of the Third Reich, a solution to a problem. A lot of young Russians, just like many young westerners, do not know their history, or history of those around them, nor have they been following developments and current events. They get caught up with things when they hit social media or the Internet shuts down, or they cannot pay for Netflix or something. This is how our governments want us to be, world over. Obedient little drones, caught up in our own little world while they take everything away from us. Kiev Ukrainians have kill lists, Darya Dugina was on that list, she was murdered. Now they have put Roger Waters of Pink Floyd on their kill list. ISIS and NAZIS are in essence the same, even in WW2 radical Islamists found common ground with the European Nazis. Why do I mention this ? Because the West supports both the ISIS of the Middle East, and the Nazis of Europe. Have a good day.

Thank you for this video ,it was very informative. It's sad that this is all happening because of one person and I don't see things getting better anytime soon,we have to be realistic. As for me I feel very bad for the Ukranians ,I have a lot friends there and I was supposed since 2021 to relocate in Ukraine in fact but delayed it because of covid and now this happened.Despite this I have decided to continue with my relocation to Kyiv.I hope that I can be helpful to my dear Ukrainians,I feel that I have to do it to fight this depression that is seizing me since Feb24th . Ironically I decided to move to Ukraine and from there with a camper van and travel all over Central Asia .My big dream since a child was always to visit Lake Baikal and trek into Kamchatka.I don't see this happening anytime soon ,maybe in 20 years.....

It's going to be OK. Ukraina is being decommunized. I'm sure you understand what that means. If not, basically tchernobyl will be the last free zone of ukraina. Helensky and the banderovskies along with the esteemed assistance of their degenerate handlers in DC and London will then move the capital of ukraina into the sarcophagus. Ukraina shall finally be safe.

This is not just because of one person. Putin has lots of followers and enablers. Also a big part of Russian population agreed with the illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014, and even now support the war. Being brain washed is not an excuse, they can still receive real information if they actually want to, or they can turn a blind eye like most Germans did under the nazi regime.

@@elektrotehnik94 Bullsh*t.. I'm in Saint Petersburg now, the first time since summer 2019. I just visited several supermarkets and I can easily compare food prices. They are only 0-20% higher than they were before the pandemic. In many countries prices have become 2-3 times more expensive. Except for the imported food and goods from the western part of the world, bread, cheese, vegetables, fruit (including from Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan or Turkey) prices are almost the same as they were 3 years ago. In most of the restaurants I visited prices are 5-20% higher than summer 2019.. Strange how you picture things in Russia.. You're either a Russian self-hater or a Russia-hater even if you're a Russian citizen. No one else could utter such blatant lies..

Great, insightful video. I’ve learned a lot about the effects of the war on you and your fellow Russians from this short video. No one’s more affected than those who lost their loved ones in this conflict on both sides. I’m sure no one wants this war except Putin. It’s really a Putin’s senseless war and I hope he comes to his senses pretty soon and hopefully everything can go back to normal for every one in the world. Keep up the great work! Love from USA

Privet Nesty - just came across your channel today. Thank you for sharing your perspective, it's really important to continue to share what things are truly like, not what we hear from ultra-censored or extremist sources. You're so funny and so good at communicating across cultural divides. I hope the best for you and your family. Saludos from California! Keep up the good work please :)

Just found your channel. You represent the hope I remember for a coming together of the East and West in the 90's that currently feels so lost (and rejected). At some point it has to be renewed as would be the hope and life's work of Mr Gorbachev (as much as he is currently the subject of misplaced blame in Russia). I understand why Ukrainians' cannot feel hope for reconciliation for for a long time, but most in the West hold out hope with no prejudice because folks like you exist. People like you should be seen as the pride of Russia.

Dear Nesty, I feel really sorry for you and all the other (mostly young) Russians who are victims of the current situation. And of course, most of the European people don't hate Russians in general. But there are (many?) people in Russia who support what's going on and unfortunately also abroad living Russians do it in an offensive way. In addition there are multiple reports about robbery and r@pes caused by Russian "soldiers" in Ukraine. That makes the situation for you and others even more difficult. My hope (and my whish) is that we somehow overcome this situation and learn to be acceptable neighbors on this planet. We in Germany had to go this way and we still haven't finished. All the best for you!

Hey bud! If you did a little bit of research, you'd quickly educate yourself that the r*pe allegations were made up by some person in the ukrainian government -- she was promptly let go after her lies were exposed. You have to take anything an everything that comes out about the Russian-ukrainian war with a truckload of salt! neither side is reporting the truth. Don't believe everything you read, don't everything you hear and only believe half of what you see.

As I see what has happened since february, with both sides being unable to get what they really want, this situation has to last for some years. I'm afraid that traumatism will also be awful for lots of russians. Most of european countries consider Russia's a terrorist state now. So you'll have to be brave even after the end of it.

Nato must stop expanding. The G7 countries think they own the world and doesn't want a stronger Russia or China that can protect the global south. US and its allies must stop now attacking and destroying other countries or threatening big powers that rose from the bottom and are closely related to second and third world countries.

@@adevoidvessel You are raising a prospect that even most Russians don't want - why do you think they are struggling to find personel for the army? Russian strength is great - Russian aggression is not! As a principle all countries, including Ukraine, must be allowed to make their own choices.

Very well put together video, Nesty. I'm an American and I watch videos created by Russians and Ukrainians. It's a shame that politicians ruin people's lives just for personal gain and to stroke their egos. In America, our current presidential administration is doing the same thing, just differently. I hope things become better for you.
