It's called knowing how to be a star in your role. Pippen never TRULY came to grips with THAT. He secretly has coveted all of the favor, praise and adulation that his basketball mentor and one-time close friend, Michael Jordan; received and STILL receives. Sad situation, but much of Scottie's angst and turmoil is self induced. With the proper perspective, he'd be able to exorcize MANY of his personal demons.

Scottie Pippen should count his blessings and lucky stars that he played with a great player(Michael Jordan)who understood and gave credit to him publicly for helping him win championships. But let's be honest, Michael Jordan was great before, and after Scottie Pippen joined the Bulls. Michael Jordan was rookie of the year. Scottie Pippen averaged 7 points per game and didn't start. Michael Jordan made Scottie Pippen great. Scottie Pippen can't give credit because he's weak and weak people are too insecure to give credit where credit is due.

@@stuntedgrowth you know ball that’s undeniable, even agree with you most times. Grew up a Chicago & Jordan fan my self but they weren’t winning 10 straight or even 8 straight. You went straight fan on this one & had to have been very young at that time to think that way.. Then you say Pippen didn’t show when he was without Jordan that he could lead yet he finished 3rd in MVP voting that year & was one of the very few player to ever lead his team in all major stat categories. They didn’t win a chip quite honestly because they didn’t have the team to win. Jordan retired right before the season & didn’t exactly give them time to replace him with any even decent but even in those days very few major stars left in their prime to join either teams. The next year without Grant they had an even tougher time but even the addition on MJ didn’t give them the team to win. Portland he was past his prime which to put in context in those days meant 33. But we say Reggie Miller was his teams leader or a superstar period & Pippens career numbers aren’t that far off & he spent majority of his as a second option. During the title run he averaged 19, 7 & 5 which was almost as much as most teams first option, especially one named Reggie Miller. & the Doc was called The Last Dance, which to any alive at the time means the “Bulls” as a team. Had he named it Mans last ride or some shit it would’ve been more accurate & probably not pushed Pip to the point of having to speak out about the moments that would’ve stopped the run that he or teammates lead or played great that is never mentioned. If it was a Jordan documentary then why mention Pip sitting out. Why not mention the times he performed to the point of saving their asses. That’s the issue he’s having. & to mention the shit with Larza was just petty & filled with bs. Jordan & Pippen don’t hang out outside of basketball so the kid would’ve never spent summers around Larza in those days. That was a shot. Journalist don’t need to take em. Your skills are fine without them. Jordan was great but his competitiveness didn’t allow him to give teammates or others props & the doc just fell in line with that & Pip got tired of it. You should read the book & you’ll see he gave just as much praise as criticism in reality. I agree though he was a bit hyperbolic saying he was a terrible player but if you were reading the papers at the time , even with as much as they pushed him critics would always complain about his style of play , how it wasn’t winning basketball, they talked all that shit until he won. Then it was forgotten , along with the scoring champions have a tough time winning titles narrative.

Pip does get a bad rap. He doesn’t help himself with his actions but even before people were never giving him his proper dues. Like even in the opening to this video the guy said that in 94 when Jordan was gone Pippen didn’t even make the finals 🤦♂️ how the hell was he supposed to do that? They’d just lost the best player in the entire league and basically ran it back without him. They brought in Steve Kerr and a rookie Toni Kukoc but no one even 10% as good as the player they lost. The first year without Magic LA go from the finals to the 8th seed. The first year without Shaq, Kobe falls to the 11 seed. Basically any team Lebron leaves, because he leaves as a free agent, go from a finals team to a lottery team. That’s what happens when the best player leaves a team and Isn’t replaced. But in Chicago’s case they lost the goat of basketball and were still one of the best teams in the league. They won 55 games and lost a close game seven to the conference winners in the second round. Pip was first team all nba, first team all defence, all star MVP and was third in MVP voting. So 94 is not a reason to hate on Pip. He showed the league he was a legit NBA superstar that season. You replace Jordan with a legit co star for Pip instead of just taking Jordan off the team and they would have won the chip.

Salute to Scottie Pippen and his perspective I understand how he would feel slighted & disrespected by M.J and the rest of the Masses. Scottie was a top tier player he could do everything and impact the game without scoring 30 ppg. Coach Tex Winters ( the creator of the Triangle offense) said plenty of times that Pippen and his skill set fit perfectly with the triangle. and that Scottie was the doberman of the bulls defense and would cover for others mistakes on defense or when Jordan gambled on a steal and missed. Scottie should have won Defensive player of the year at least once. KNOCK IT OFF That one Year M.J retired PIP led the bulls in every major stastical catagory and still won 55 games plus he and two other players made the allstar team with him. The 2nd round loss to the knick's that was because of that fluke foul call for Hubert Davis. side note MJ never made it to the second round with without PIP ( google it). That Houston Rockets team was old and janky Both Barkley & Dream was old and past their Prime. ( He took Cuttino Mobley under his wing and helped his game) Pip Helped that Portland team make it to the WCF even tho he was not the leading scorer. I get it Michael Jordan is a icon and he took The NBA to a GLOBAL LEVEL. But pip not wrong for how he views being slighted It was not Just M.J by himself that got them 6 rings Pip and the whole team got them chips. In the last dance Doc Jordan called Scottie SELFISH and IMO that's what really made Pip Bug tf up.

@@Intellectually_Ignorant_brandPippen was carried out of the 1st round, that's isn't a opinion. Jordan said Pippen was being selfish for delaying surgery in 97-98. Jordan was right. Pippen can't be criticized? 3peat Bulls added 5 new players. Pippen didn't lead them in every statistical category. Played a Cavs team missing 3 of their 4 best players in the 1st round. The best player in any sport gets most of the credit. This true with Brady, Messi, Gretzky, Duncan, etc. The Rockets were in the WCF in 97. Pippen played poorly that's why they got bounced in the 1st round. Blazers made the WCF the yr before without Pippen. Pippen always joined established teams his whole career. Pippen should feel nothing but grateful.

@33greenleaf problem with Pierce is he's never gotten his due praise but has gotten much, but not entirely undue, criticism. People like to act as if he was some shlocky stiff when, in reality, he gave buckets to all wing players of his generation- including everyone's favorite 2 and 3 Kobe and LeBron - and doubled as the last major star to come out of KU (before Embiid) and the only Boston Celtic legend to be the recipient of a poor front office.

I hope black men get used to success enough to not become self destructive. There is a lot in Pippens career to be grateful for & appreciate. He had made some decisions & said some things because he was successful that may not have been the wisest or of the best character. He used to be my favorite player, his talent & performance is undeniable but i think comparison & looking at his career through other eyes is just developing a misery that make me just want to pray for the brother & learn from the lesson that he has become & displayed.

People keep talking about jealousy but aren't trying to look deeper than that. Everyone knows Mike is the man,and hell Scottie knows that. But theres always been this stigma that Jordan won those six titles by himself and that he could've won those with anyone. Thats been on Scottie's mind for years that not just him,but the team never get their credit,just Mike. Yes Mike is THE star,but it takes a entire team to win championships. Also something that gets lost in this is when Scottie made his comments,how many of their teammates jumped up and said "no Scottie, you're wrong about Michael"? Not many if any. Scottie wasn't the first teammate to talk about Mike,hes just the most famous so its easier to attack him. Iso Jordan was real and the best thing Phil did was take the ball out of his hands and put Pippen at the point forward role. I get we're going to always hold Jordan at the highest in basketball(i do too), but we can't act like he was a angel. Scottie played with him,we didn't.
@T.H.E.O.R.Y.

True. Sadly, Jordan was a ballhog earlier on - the best one, but still - and he was the blueprint for even worse ballhogs to come in Kobe and Westbrook. Further, tbh, he does not get enough criticism for that, as opposed to someone like Scottie, who never has gotten by for even minor issues of his.

That just comes wit bein the lead dog when lebron went on the shop after 2016 and he stated "that right their made you the Greatest of all time" nobody jumped up and say right aren't you givin your team praise or why are you makin that chip all about you? Lebron was the leader so he gets the right to speak that way as does Jordan but you know what's funny if you actually sit and watch Jordan interviews he constantly gives praise to his teammates as shown in this video he is almost always complimentary when talking about scottie and his contributions all throughout the last dance doc is Micheal talking bout the team how we're gonna make the team better etc so I don't necessarily agree with this notion that Jordan at least made all the winning about him the media and his fans definitely can be guilty of that but again I don't think that is something that you can just point the finger at Jordan or his fans for its a lot of player and fans of players that do the same I won't disagree with your last point Jordan definitely was a ball hog his first few years in the league but let's go a bit deeper into that keep in mind dude was an elite scorer pretty much from the moment he stepped into the NBA history teams early on were filled with role players and literal crackheads and coke addicts now I'm sayin theirs ever a time to ball hog but in that scenario I can see why he could justify not passing much

@@johndavis9321 don't get me wrong I don't think Jordan did, at least not openly,but the media and fans,I definitely give a solid chunk of the blame when it comes to discrediting talent or accolades of other players just because they play with a superstar, especially Pip and I never understood that. I never heard anyone discredit James Worthy's accomplishments because he played with Kareem and Magic,or McHale because he played with Bird, but when it comes to Pippen,it's like he only got those accomplishments because of Michael,not his hard work,which I can't blame a man for being salty about it. And we got to remember we only got a taste of what the Bulls were like on the Last Dance,we have no idea what Jordan was like behind closed doors for all those years. Scottie wasn't the first teammate to knock Jordan ,just the most famous and the crazy thing is I didn't see too many teammates coming to Jordan's defense. Not saying I agree,but there has to be a little fire when it comes to the smoke Scottie is putting out. And you're correct as far as how he probably came to the point of doing iso Jordan as much as he did. He did have a point early on,and I also blame Doug Collins for his offense literally being give Mike the ball and everyone get out the way. That was never going to win a championship so I understood why Scottie said he was a bad teammate to play with if that's what you had to deal with your first couple years,he actually had a lot of points to that that basically even Phil and Jordan basically admits to on the Last Dance.

I'm old enough to remember just how horrible the bulls were before Mike got there. His impact was phenomenal right from the jump but no one thought that he would ever get a team built around him and he would go down as the greatest player to never win anything because of that. Yet he was good enough to make them competitive and they eventually did build a team around him. I always liked pippen but he's delusional and MJ most definitely could have won all those championships with another #2

Pippen not a stunted growth either. NBA was not going to allow Pippen to carry the Blazers to a chip! that would take away from Jordan Legacy which the league and sport is built on.... Besides Pippen would not be as good if Jordan was not hounding him/ practicing with him through out the seasons when they were on the bulls together. Pippen actually is a growth spurt. Not everyone can get the script to be "The Man" in team sport. Everyone has their roles. Pippen should not be ashamed of being a #2
