I have just discovered this channel by luck yesterday. I intend to watch your videos in chronological order from start to finish. I am extremely impressed by the 1805 Ulm and Austerlitz videos which I've watched from you already. This channel is a hidden gem and if only more people would come across this then it'd have a million subscribers , I can guarantee that. There aren't many Napoleonic history channels on KZitem, I feel like this channel is comparable to epic history TV's videos, just in a longer format with more details. I love hearing about both the large overview of events, but also small details at the same time. Small things such as mentioning Napoleon sleeping in a barn alongside a drummer during the Ulm video or personal quotes showing the opinions of people as they experience the events being detailed adds something really special to your videos. I also love the humour you occasionally slip in. Overall this is single handedly one of the best history channels out there from what I've seen. Keep up the incredible work, and I hope one day more people will come across these great videos you produce.

It's really excellent! I'm short of relevant superlatives, but there's plenty more in other comments. One of the positive aspects of the continental blockade is the spreading of industrial beet sugar extraction (and diabetes) in Europe(*). (*) In 1747, a German chemist and pharmacist, Andreas Sigismund Marggraf, succeeded in extracting sugar from beet. His process was improved by a Berliner chemist, Franz Karl Achard. However, the first industrial extraction of sugar was carried out at the end of 1811 by a French chemist, Jean-Baptiste Quéruel (Wikipedia).

This is by far one of the best KZitem channels I’ve come across. I can’t stress this enough. I’ve only just started watching Your series - I am on episode 14 but I’ve only begun maybe a week ago. The in-depth characterisation of the life of Napoleon is on par with historical literature thus making this channel a huge part of what can make KZitem a great source of knowledge. I can’t even imagine the amount of work that goes into cleverly structuring each video and I am shocked that You do not have more viewers. You certainly are doing a swell job and I hope the future will allow You to continue it with both satisfaction and financial stability. KZitem is a better place with You and for that thank You! Bests of luck!

Tbh the French would have been better off slowly but steadily building new ships to narrow the number gap with the royal navy Spain should have done the same but that’s my opinion I don’t think napoleon is considering how his heavy handed diplomacy (if it should be referred to as that) might ensure his enemies would remain his enemies if France shows a slight hint of weakness they will strike again im sure Talleyrand knew this but napoleon seemed scarcely worried while this can be attributed to French military success thus far as I always say ignorance is bliss and arrogance is fatal

Excellent video as always! I just wanted to point out a minor mistake at 44:51 , since you mention Rio de la plata as an independent republic. At the time of the 1806-1807 English invasions, as they are known there, it was still a spanish Viceroyalty, though of course the experience would help shape a nascient sense of patriotism in what will eventually become Argentina. Independence wont come until some year laters in 1810, the year which started the downfall of the Spanish American empire. And its all connected to an event you'll soon be covering, the whole spanish debacle with Nappy and the crisis of legitimacy that the deposition of the Spanish Bourbons sparked in all the colonies. It would truly be amazing if you got to cover the situation in America from 1810 forwards (both South and North America, since they too will see their share of war in 1812) even if just as a side video as you did for Haiti. It truly gives the Napoleonic era a sense of global scale, where events from one side of the Atlantic greatly influence conflict in the other. Anyways, hope you have a great month and can't wait for the next one!

Oops, my mistake. Thankfully I'm only out by a few years. You might've read my mind about 1810 and events in the Spanish Americas. I've been thinking about how deep to go in any coverage. At this stage I do want to give it the Haiti treatment and cover at least the beginnings of an independent South America. Also a fun excuse to include Bolivar and San Martin. The War of 1812 will have to get some mention too, but I don't think I'll go into much detail.

Napoleon showed too much leniency to enemies, which ultimately proved fatal. He did muttered later in Waterloo that he should have burned down Berlin we he had a chance.
@mechaboy0226
7 ай бұрын
I disagree if anything he was far from lenient His peace treaties with Austria and Prussia robbed them of a lot of land between 1805-1809 Prussia suffering the most and this ensured that these nations were enemies for some time and that the min France floundered they would seek an opportunity to take advantage of it Not to mention that the continental system was gonna be unpopular with many states which is one of the reasons why Russian relations with France post Tilsit began to sour because their economy was hurting from lack of trade with Great Britain and thus they broke it which pissed napoleon off and was used as one reason for his Russian campaign of 1812 If he was lenient it’s unlikely that Austria or Prussia would have had a reason outright to wage war against France if things went wrong for them

@@mechaboy0226 If someone declares war and then loses so badly, it is expected that their land would be taken.
