I did not know that Alicia Keys did the ending vocal bits! So cool! Now I know there is even more of a connection of when she sang it with you in Times Square! It all makes sense now!!!

6:28 „Gravity hides behind desire“. Well John, the esoteric symbolism of this lyric means that desire binds one to the lower laws of gravity that pull energy down. Gravity are the laws of the ego and the desire is of the ego. The laws of levity on the other hands are the laws of God i.e. fulfillment, no desire, wholeness. That‘s what this existence was expressing through you as a conduit. You should have used this version on the album or at least that awesome lyric!

I almost always prefer demos and live versions to any studio albums. I feel like I am hearing the real magic happen without edits and for a true talent like JM I love getting a look behind the curtain at a master. Love his entire body of work and have been lucky enough to see him live. This demo seems more honest and vulnerable which I always prefer to polished and “smooth.” When artists pull their creations from the ether and you get to hear it, it is truly magic. Thank you for sharing this.

I also like demo's and outtakes. I've been on the lookout and collecting demo's for the past 20 years. I love the so called "work in progress" music and this Gravity is no exception.

My old keyboard player of 24 years wrote some incredible songs and would overdo them sometimes in the studio. I used to tell him just do it like your demo quit layering so much onto it, you're losing the idea and vibe, sorry the only words I can think of right now but you know what I'm sayin....lol This vocal was really nice. Sweet innocent and he should start singing the line about GRAVITY HIDES BEHIND DESIRE IN HIS AD LIB AT THE END......GREAT LINE

Uhmm, I don't think that John is playing the bass in this demo from 2006. It's actually his bassist, Pino Palladino, who handles the bass part. They often tour together as a trio, along with their drummer Steve Jordan.
