Deloading is for all lifters at all levels!!! Deloading will allow you to reach higher goals with your workouts you never thought possible. The top names in the game Larry Wheels, The Mountain, Stan Efferding, Chuck Vogelpohl, Stefi Cohen, Brian Shaw, Mike O'Hearn, and Eddie Hall all use some sort of deloading system. That's the stone cold truth. This doesn't mean you can just sit around every other week waiting for your body to recover into a new PR. What you need to know is when deloading is optimal is when you are at the peak of your form. You need to not just deload if you're completely out of shape. Yes dial it back if you're getting your GPP up, but don't sit back and relax, it's all about tapering your workouts and lifts to help you recover properly when your body needs it most!!!
So what is the secret sauce you need to know? Well it's all about deloading your body at the right time, and that's what Matt has perfected over his 25 year lifting career at the top level. So why are we deloading?
The body is made of organic materials, these materials and compounds are miraculous in how they recover from loads of abuse over the years. This is how we heal cuts, get over sickness, and grow stronger over increased load. BUT they can only heal when they're not always recovering from working out. It's about balance, and in this video Matt goes over how to balance your training with your deloading cycles!!! These cycles have been used in Westside Barbell under Louie Simmons but Matt has found a way that is BETTER to hit past your upper level plateaus. Deloading is complex but it needs to be explained so you can personally benefit from this secret all lifters know about but not many implement correctly.
