I’ve been painting Watercolors since my late 20s and I’ve never seen this technique before I love it. I’ve made stencils before and use those but this is much better because the tape will stick down and water will not seep underneath it. 😊

Thank you Pamela, it really is a nice way to lift back bits here and there, now to find a tape that works as well and curves too...

What are you doing with the shell? Are you using the edge to spray the paint with the bristle brush?

I can't see clearly the effect. Would you be so kind and point it out to me what exactly the scotch tape does? Please.

Hi there, yes, I place the tape to mask an area, this gently lift with the toothbrush the area between the two pieces of tape. This causes the lifting to only be on the part that isn’t taped. Once the tape is removed you can then see the stems and flowers petals connecting together as a result of the lifted areas. Hope this answer helps. Thank you for watching

I don't know much at all about watercolor artistry, and I have to admit, I don't know what in the world you were doing. I watch this out of curiosity, but I still don't know why you do this. I've never seen anyone do this before. BTW, it's a beautiful painting.

Thank you for watching, these finishing touches are a part of my learning process. How to balance colors, values, and this month was studying connecting shapes, so the tape and lifting was to create a connected shape across the whole painting - the white shapes.

You know, Rosemary & co makes a tiny little scrubber that works really well. You wouldn't need to tape & risk tearing your paper with tape.
