Bro started on stage. At about two minutes in, he says something to the keys player and wanders off stage left. Five minutes later he reappears, takes a hit off his vape, and the rejoins for the finale. What an entertainer. Pure talent.

I had the unforgettable opportunity or opportunities to have jammed with him a handful of times. I went to high school with his son Waylon Krieger, and came over his house to jam. Lo and behold, Robbie would walk into the room with his Gibson SG and jam along with us. He was the first guitarist I ever saw live that blew me away, very underrated. Another crazy coincidence, Waylon‘s good friend jamming on bass with us was Barry Oakley’s son. His name was Barry Oakley and he looked exactly like his dad. jammin with those guys actually was the first time I ever jammed the blues and they taught me how to truly improvise. Rob would bust out rips from classic doors songs too. So folks, don’t disrespect Robbie Kreeger.

Hey, small world of coincidences. We, too, played this song on a flatbed during a parade in Fairport New York en route to their fairmen's carnival. We were an Up With People band and were only licensed to do Up With People songs, but we got bored of just doing our only 3 or 4 REALLY BIG hits during the long boring parade route and somehow, a chord from one of our songs was the same chord played in LMF, so without any advance planning, somehow our entire song transposed into Light My Fire - it transferred so smoothly, just as though it was planned. On a sidenote, I feel so blessed to have managed to obtain one of the very few copies of this as a 45 rpm with the full 6:50 version - - - - on a 45 rpm !!!!

Elanor Rigby and These are a Few of My Favorite Things thrown into the Light My Fire solo! I met Robbie after a show in Chicago and told him how cool that he threw those other songs into the solo and he said “Yeah, sometimes I wonder if people notice “. Oh, we noticed!!!!
@hwearrow
2 ай бұрын
It is ok doing that things sometimes but I prefer always follow the feelings and development of the solos from the original original song. It is much better searching other arrangements or harmonies since the song itself respecting Morrison’s will. I don’t like references to other songs in the song because it diminishes the song itself.
@alvarhanso6310
Ай бұрын
@@hwearrow Jim Morrison sang the song that Robbie Krieger wrote. Morrison checked out 53 years ago, Robbie continued making music until his own passing. He was also a jazz guitarist first, and in improvisation, even planned excursions, he chose to play those tributes to Coltrane and the Beatles for his own enjoyment. The lack of respect for the song is in someone believing the writer/performer has to stick to playing it exactly the same for 57 years. Do you have any idea how boring it is to play the same song every night in the exact same way?

I don't know, I don't blame them for giving Robbie credit he certainly deserves it and then some, but I believe Ray Manzarik wrote light my fire
@orrijen
4 ай бұрын
The band needed more material for their first album. Morrison urged his bandmates to write some songs. Robbie went home to his parents house and wrote "Light My Fire". Manzarek then fleshed it out by adding the intro organ part, and their producer said to also do it at the end. Morrison contributed to the lyrics, and it was Densmore's idea to start the song with the single hit on the snare drum. Thus, a collaberative effort, but it was essentially Krieger's song.
