+ThioJoeTech I really appreciate the fact that you take the time to find quality content and subjects that makes us realize how much is there to learn about, instead of some overused iphone, apple / android crap titles just to capture more views and attention. Very informative, thanks again.

Our eyes are used to the sun You make very good points in your video Try and buy something that is more close to real looking light the (SUN) then artificial lights and I think a lot more people would have a lot less headaches And less eye strain Thanks For your videos

Good talk, I prefer to see more visuals and lees talking head, but the content was really well explained for the layman, I wish you can go in to more detail, but this is a good start in to this topic. [Subscribed]

I'm looking for perfect lighting in my barbershop. My ceilings are low. Maybe 8ft and I have regular bright white t8 fluorescents of I think 70-75cri. They make brown hair look dirty blond, and black hair shiny. What should I do ?

This relatively simple explanation will allow the average person to now see the light. A pity all teachers do not follow his example.

You did pretty good but you skirted all around the bullseye. I'll add the main point. objects aren't just a single color, light hits them, bounces around and gets reflected back as that object filters it. It is usually a very narrow spectrum. If you take an object of a particular color , lets say blue, and shine it with a light that is a different color, lets say red, that object is only going to reflect a very tiny bit of the red, because that object filters most of it out. So the blue will appear very dark. But if you shine a light on it that has a wide spectrum, a high CRI, then some of that light will be blue and the object will reflect it and indeed appear blue. If you shine it with a sodium vapor lamp, the yellow of the sodium vapor will not illuminate the blue for the same reason. So if you want an object to appear "natural", color temperature alone isn't going to do it, you need a spectrum of light that approximates what we are accustomed to ... daylight. P.S. for those of you who wonder why a white primer is often used, it acts as a reflector. In the above example it takes the blue light that has made it through the blue paint, and reflects it back out. The red also gets reflected, but the blue paint has already absorbed most of it, and absorbs more after being reflected.

High in CRI in art gallery? You must be joking. We deserve to have basic CRI=100 just at home.
