Yes, and no, there should be regular school trips to places that have these, and maybe borrow an educational model for school once a year, for a week, with play/sport/FootBall courtyard train tracks placed since saturday, verified monday morning, taken down friday and saturday end of the week, that way, you can have 1 week for each school to borrow something fun and educational, and if there are more schools close together, they could use a common ground for multiple weeks, so all children could experience these wonders. (And also have lessons in all fields related to steam power, and stream trains/ train tracks... in that month, to solidify the awesomeness of the past, and future, Nuclear power is just a big steam engine for electric power generation.)

I live near the Jackson Street Roundhouse, which was restored to working order some years ago with parts from another roundhouse. The facility is the Minnesota Museum of Transportation, St. Paul, and staffed by people who still restore old steam locomotives, cars, a crane, a winged snowplow, etc. You can take a short ride in a caboose…remember cabooses?? Also old Twin Cities buses such as I rode in as a child; and just perhaps I was on one of those! I took two childhood friends to the museum years ago; one of whom had the bus schedules memorized back then…and is not a city bus driver!! My late father enjoyed Lionel trains as a child, and spent many spare hours building an HO scale scenic course in his sparse spare time when I was a preteen. He was like a Big Kid when he worked on his little mountains, tunnels, bridges and valleys . . . Never Stop Playing!!!
