Your day went like my week. 2-high flow of-rings, slipped a track twice, mulched carpet which I had to torch off, mulched barbed wire which whipped me in the face unspooling it and yes I was bleeding, lost my AC fans, and more. Mulching sucks, but it’s the cheapest and fastest way to clear for the customers. 2023 takeuchi TL12V2 with a FAE mulcher. Good weeks and bad ones I guess. Stay motivated!

Good news it wasn’t one of the teeth you just had fixed. And since the shop did a good job on other ones, this should be quick for them to fix. Hopefully that is it for a while.

Metal fatigue is happening to that head. I am not a metallurgical specialist, but with my experience of metal and welding, it may pay to have each one of the welded on attachment points rewelded to the drum. If you are experiencing detachment of teeth now, it's just going to keep happening. Just an old man with experience trying to help. Keep up the great work Davin!
@glennsoucy9767

He's exactly right. These appear to be failing along the weld lines. It might be worth the effort to have these areas penetrant tested, or possibly magnafluxed. It'll help identify cracks, and help prioritize repairs.
@toolmantim613

@glennsoucy9767 yes, i used to do penetrant testing. Never magnaflux though. That is a great thought. 👍

Welds are weakening. Everything wears out ! You might need to get a welder/angle grinder and learn how to use 'em. Pressure washing/inspection/repair might need to be a 'regular' item if you don't want downtime. Either that or sell the head a buy a new one... that is what the 'big' contractors do. But you are a small time operator... kinda expensive though.
@mickbaker2483

Hi it's just a thought on my part now you have lost another tooth it may pay if you have more teeth on the drum to get them cut off and new ones replaced and welded on to save this happening in the near future, thank's for a great video.

Zero Turn, mulching blades. Inner tube's by size of Ebay and Amazon are cheaper. Order your back ups. Me, hand truck, mobility scooter, wheelbarrow, ect. I buy a few along with good patches. Sometimes can patch, sometimes not. Back ups and patched in toolboxes. Always water check patches.😅

Have the welding shop crack test the other teeth while it’s in, might be a preventative maintenance deal as the hours continue to add up on the mulching head
