While I'm not necessarily a fan of the vintage aesthetic and certainly prefer the more "clinical" side of my photography (which is ironic since I mostly shoot using lenses from the 70s and 80s), I think in your case it's working quite fine. I have been experimenting with still life photography lately and I must say this video (and the previous one) is quite inspiring. I'll rummage through the pantry and see if I come up with something interesting too.

haha. Thank you. Perhaps consider letting something like a parsnip get rather past its best. These tend to lose moisture and really wrinkle up. Onions, garlic, walnuts? Things with "character".

Indeed they are. I have barely scratched the surface of what's possible.

Very cool. I need to try this out sometime soon. Theres an aweful lot of work it seems in post and thats where i have little knowledge of, so it will be a good learning exercise on rainy days

You can do as much or as little in post as you want, I guess. It all depends on the ascetic you want. Like anything, it takes a lot of practice to get all of these things right.

I know what Raw files are, and I know what jpeg files are of course, but what are Tiff files and is there any advantage to tiff or jpeg files? by the way, I really like what you are doing here (the old master's look), I could be interested in doing this kind of thing a lot!

A TIFF (Tagged Image File Format) is a full-information image file that is loss-less. It can be manipulated almost like a Raw file but of course only in the demosaiced, denoised fashion. TIFF files can be compressed using LZW algorithms and ZIP. They're handy for passing images around in the best quality possible whilst retaining enough data for quite precise adjustments. TIFF pre-dates JPEG by some 6 years.
