The "beat the beat up call it self defense" line went over a lot of people head too. He just had to word it so it could rhyme. But when someone tries to beat you up but you fight back and defend yourself "self defense" but in this case he talking about the actual beat to the song.

Tha Carter 2 is way harder than 3 and 4. One of the best hip hop albums to date. I remember going to a Lil Wayne concert and Stopped for gas near the venue before the show and Cory Gunz and others came out of a big SUV to go into the mart at the gas station.

As popular as lil wayne is he is still under rated. I think in future kids will appreciate the word play and bars Lil Wayne had more so than when he was in his prime. So many people said he was just saying random shit cause they didnt understand it but when new people who never heard his shit and break down the bars he going to get praised alot more by future generations.
