Lilac tincture- in a glass jar, cover fresh blossoms with 80 proof vodka. Steep four weeks, strain out blossoms and bottle it. It keeps for years.
Lilac syrup-
one cup boiling water
One cup of sugar
One cup of fresh blossoms
Add a few blueberries or blackberries for color if desired.
Cover and leave overnight in refrigerator. Strain and bottle. Keeps for two months in the refrigerator.
Lilac tea- steep 3 or 4 fresh leaves or one teaspoon of dried leaves in a cup of boiling water for 5 minutes.
Or
Two tablespoons of blossoms in a cup of hot water for five minutes.
You can sweeten with lilac syrup for the extra lilac power.
The tea can lower a fever.
Lilac tonic-
1/3 cup of blossoms
1/3 cup of witch hazel
2/3 cup of distilled water
Infuse for two weeks. It will keep for months in the refrigerator.
Lilac honey ( not shown in video)
Infuse blossoms in a jar of honey for 6 weeks. You don’t have to remove them, just eat them with the honey. Sweeten your tea or spread on toast.
Lilac is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, astringent and generally healing.
