The weather there is amazing. Snowing one day then swimming a few days later. It’s not like that here in NJ/NY area. Freya is adorable. I don’t know how I stumbled on this channel but I can’t help checking in on how Freya and the family are doing now that I know about them. Kinda the same with Sebastian.

You briefly addressed something important within the limb difference community that happens in many off shoots of the broader disability community that I've really never seen addressed. People forget that parents, professionals, and those with disabilities exist within them. So, someone who wants the focus to be on them as a person and what they can do verses what they can't or not being all doom and gloom about life may be an individual with with the disability and not talking as a parent, sometimes both exist where a parent does live with the same disability. Parents often forget when they are talking about their child from a condition perspective and what's "hard" or "challenging" that they aren't only talking about their child and those who struggle with those same things are also listening and may begin wondering if their parents feel the same way and feel bad for being a burden or about themselves as a result. Professionals often forget everyday life is way different than what they know and understand. It needs to be something people are mindful of as not to talk over or dominate the narrative of someone else's life. At the end of the day what its like to live as a disabled people is different than parenting someone with it or treating it. As much as you may care and love us you are external to it and we don't feel the same ways.

It definitely is a hard balance and I never want to speak for Freya. I am trying to share my experience as a parent to a disabled child. And not insert myself. I know I am not disabled and I have a different experience. One that is my own and not Freya’s.
@DesMowadeng
5 ай бұрын
@@Freyasluckyarm It is a hard balance! Really parenting and disability itself should be entirely different communities because we don't have to disclose weather or not we have one and with the communities combined its hugely problematic because inevitably someone responding to a parent could be an individual with the disability. We become really reluctant to helping when we are shut down and hurt or "parents just don't wanna hear it" because there's a lot parents can learn from those of us who are older and live with the conditions your kiddos do. You've always been open to and thankful for anything I've ever offered as a disabled people but not all parents are like that.

You always hear about bad mothers and such, I enjoy knowing that there are Mom's and Dad's for that matter like you and Chris that love and nurture their children. Here in Sydney Australia it is pouring rain. We are about to start winter, which, compared to yours, is very mild. I loved how you referred to your friend as Aunty Jessica. Might be old-fashioned, but I love to hear kids addressing adults by either Aunty/Uncle or Mr/Mrs. That's what I was taught as a kid, and I think it just shows respect and nice manners. My grandkids are being taught that, and I don't think it is harming them in any way. The kids enjoyed the pool, with Freya seeming to as well. You are a great mum, and I admire you as it is hard enough raising kids these days, let alone having a child who needs a little extra support. It is clear the other kids love Freya and will always be there for her.❤❤❤❤
