It seems limerence is an epidemic right now, and I'm thankful PDS and other resources are addressing it.

This is alarming and seems like the precursor to stalking or delusional behavior. Glad to learn more.

Knowing our needs and meeting them in relationship to self will make us not solely depend on external sources to get them met, thus becoming more securely attached 💯

Yes, and opening up to more people, being more vulnerable, so we don't put all our eggs in that romantic basket. As an FA, I realize now how DA I often was with friends or family, then expected a romantic connection to meet ALL my needs for closeness. I spread it around now plus seek out situations where going deep is expected, like PDS events, to feel that deep connection that I like.

Thais, love your work. Limerence happens when the subject encounters an seemingly unobtainable goal (the limerent or object) combined with the intermittent reinforcement of those feelings by said object. Though Romeo and Juliet are often cited, more conventionally limerance occurs in the context of a power/affection imbalance. Also, "love" can degenerate into limerance as the object's desire lessens (and if the subject's feeling do not) creating said power/affection imbalance. How do I know all this? Don't ask.

What about love at first sight when you haven't interacted with that person but feel extremely drawn to him or her physically because that person is your exact physical type ?

I don't know the outcome of the woman who was engaged to be married, then fell for the guy at the coffee shop. However, if she had unmet needs that strong maybe her fiancée wasn't the right one.

Could you talk about the difference between a trauma bond and limerence?

🍿yea whos to say…. It’s highly plausible the limerencing person could pause it , create a holographic placeholder program running parallel with the initial subconscious construct, store the traits until the actual one shows up or at least one in close proximity to the desired embodiment thereof. Then you win I win we all win. = 100k exp/ automatic 10 relationship levels up ⬆️

they are called toxic relationships. Limerence is not a good thing, really. It's just as damaging as an addiction

most likely when both people are physically attractive enough but even then the very fact that one person feels such intense feeling is already making them give off way too much interest, which for most people makes them unattractive anyway. so it's basically impossible. it's common to feel a lot of emotion at the beginning of a relationship or when getting to know someone but limerence is specifically only possible when you don't know the person, because the intense feelings are much more about your idea of the person than who that person actually is. a crush can turn into a relationship, but limerence usually implies "admiration from afar" which very rarely turns into a (healthy) relationship
