Limfjordsbanen is a veteran club which is based in Aalborg and run by volunteers, and which you can see must spend a lot of time preparing and maintaining their equipment. For example, their FFJ 34 steam locomotive. FFJ 34 was built by Henschel & søn in Germany in 1916 and was delivered to Aalborg private railways, which operated the then Fjerritslev-Frederikshavn Railway. Hence the name FFJ. The locomotive was in operation until 1953, and was recommended until 1966, when it survived a large wave of scrapping. Instead, it was sold to Vesterkæret School, where the locomotive functioned as part of a playground.
When the veteran club Limfjordsbanen was founded in 1973, they were allowed to pick up FFJ 34 and have it restored. 9 years later, on 31 July 1982, No. 34 was ready to go again and has been the club's pride ever since.
The club has plenty of equipment at their depot in Aalborg. Many locomotives and carriages are stationary due to lack of hands, so if you want to help the club, just register as a member via the Danish Railway Club and the Limfjord Railway's website.
