The best thing about this is that her parents were both there to see her win the award. They were the ones who enrolled her in acting lessons with a coach to help her with her struggles in life. Little did they know she would be a star.

His body of work speaks for itself --- here are some of the more memorable ones --- *_Picnic at Hanging Rock, The Last Wave, Gallipoli, The Year of Living Dangerously, Witness, Dead Poet's Society, Fearless, The Truman Show, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World._* He was a tremendous talent, who deserves far more credit for his work.

I remember this film so well, after Star Wars, it was the next film that I saw twice in a theater. I wanted to see it so much when it first came out, nobody was interested in seeing it with me. I went by myself and thought it was one of the best films I’d ever seen. It was enough for me to convince some friends to come with me again. They agreed, and I was thrilled when Linda Hunt won the Oscar. I just knew she would.

One of the most beautiful voices any actress has ever been blessed with, which is why it is so often used for narration. Probably the shortest winner in this category except perhaps Anna Paquin. That was a lovely acceptance speech by Linda Hunt (& a great performance in a memorable film; especially (for me) when Sigourney Weaver's walk in the rain to find Mel Gibson. ~That~'s a love scene, made in the 'old way' -not showing a lot of unnecessary skin, but still showing the heat b/w the two characters. It's almost palpable, the attraction/passion/love b/w Weaver's character & Gibson's. The soundtrack helps, too.)
