I recently stuck a parametric EQ in front of the amp and used it to pull out the low end and tighten up the REVV Purple amp and it sounds great! The clarity is so much better. I always found the amps really dark on the Helix and putting the EQ ahead of the amp instead of behind it makes the amp so much more responsive.

The info you put together is invaluable for people without much recording experience coming from analog gear. That’s me. You make me get the most out of my Stomp. I already learned so much about eq and compression. Thanks so much!

Fantastic video, Jason, as usual! This was exactly what I needed, a down and dirty synopsis of the different types of EQ. The demonstration in Ozone was particularly helpful, since I am a very visual learner.

Dude, this was awesome! You clarified my doubt about the Q parameter. I'll definitely be more mindful of that while tweaking my presets.

Thanks Jason as always you shed some light on things that give me trouble. I've been using your 4 cable setup that I seen in your videos instead of just plugging into front of my amp and using the clean Channel. One thing that I know since I use a real amp is that in a four cable method takes away the unnecessary feedback and overdrive sounds when I'm trying to create a patch. For example some of the downloads from Line 6 customtones do not have that good overdrive sound that makes it sound like the artist. Maybe it's the guitar or the pickups or the amp like you said. I can make an easy adjustment in a 10-band EQ and sometimes I put two of them together. I can get for example, a Ronnie James Dio sound like Holy Diver. However, sharing this video and going over these types of EQs is expanding my knowledge to play with them a little bit. Thanks again for taking a time to make the videos that help us all.

How do you decide to go with an EQ vs adjusting the amp settings? Awesome examples!

Love the explanation tying Q values to the range of octaves it effects. If 0.7 effects +/- 2 octaves, and 1.4 effects +/- 1 octaves, does 2.8 effect +/- 0.5 octaves? Just checking my logic on how the sequence plays out. Thanks Jason!

Hello Jason, I saw your videos, those are very helpful to get to know the settings of Helix. BUT. I have problem with it. I tried to use Global EQ and other EQs, but almost nothing has changed. My problem is that anyhow I set those EQ-s, almost nothing has changed, my guitar's sound in clean mode is still crunchy. If I modify the settings, hardly changes anything. The global EQ I set with bypass button as well (I can see the sign of the global eq at the right upper corner of the display) What I tried: Global EQ: - I set up the low frequency cutting at 100 Hz - I set up the high frequency cutting to 3 kHz - Both gain stayed on zero - Mid freq: 650 Hz - Low Q (I don't know really what is it): 4,1 - High Q (I don't know really, what is it): 0,1 Nothing else on the preset line. My guitar is a Gibson Tribute Studio '50s from 2016. I tried more: - tone potmeters set to zero - level at the Global EQ went to zero I set up an EQ on the preset line (low and high cut): - Low cut: 100 Hz - High cut: 3 kHz - Level: zero - Gain: zero And after all setting the clean sound of the guitar is still crunchy in my headphones (on E, A, D, especially when I play rhythm) What can I do? Thank you.

Great video! Jason, do you use all those EQs at once? Or do you usually just use the shelf and parametric?
@JasonSadites

Thanks so much and glad you enjoyed 😀 Typically I would use the Shelf and Parametric together in a preset.
