Well done my friend... I've heard people say you can't do linear recording on the MPC and I scoffed at them..... Just increase the number of bars. Using the loop points to address the different sections was pure brilliance! Another fantastic and informative video...BRAVO!!! 👏

Not only just that. The SPL and adjusting then loop region with the encoders makes it another hands on work flow. Mpc x even as a controller is king.

Thanks for you feedback. That style of music is basically LA west coast 80s. I wish I had a solid month to do a full recording of songs. It’s coming soon. And so excited about the MPC being the center of it all

Great video - and it needs more views. Certainly a way to get out of the 2/4 bar loop that many users seem to be stuck in (possibly through choice), but nothing stopping you using the linear technique and mixing it up with the seq/patt based workflow. I've got the key 61, so this is a natural way of working, making longer form recordings. Thanks - some nice tips.

It would be great if you can do video with all those short cuts, like holding down the Erase button while its playing back to erase notes, all these short cuts are spread out all over the manual and it takes ages to find them. Thank You, Love all the videos.

They are. There a lot, as you start to do more, you find short cuts. Also DAW still does certain thing better when sample mapping.

@@park171 Yes for sure, I wanted to ask you this, as I spent the weekend watching a lot of your videos. Do you feel that the plugins that Akai has (Fabric etc) are great quality compared to actual units from MOTIF, Roland, Korg etc . I mean they sound nice by themselves but as you stack the sound they, they start feeling so lush and shimmery and not so powerful. I just feel that since they are not wave files, its their format, maybe something changes in the sound, and a lot of expansion packs out there, no one knows how they record them into the sampler. I guess the question is, you have lot of experience with Roland, Korg, actual modules, do you feel something is lost in the Akai when a sample pack is made or their plugins. I am coming from Emu sound libraries of of 80s and 90s and those things sound amazing still. I intend to try one of your sound packs, cause there is nothing in the akai plugins that really pleases the ear for me. Cheers!!

Linear recoding looks like they did that so you can punch in overdub right?

Yes. The difference in the mpc is that you have a quick way to find any point to record on the time line and also create a looped region

I see your computer screen scrolling along with the display on your MPC and wonder if you're using the MPC in controller mode to make that happen?
@park171
Жыл бұрын
Yes that’s correct. Using controller mode almost liberates you form needing the use of the monitor. The software is still a critical part of the chain even if your a dawless user. I’m tying to move the MPC workflow away from 3rd party and external Synth hardware. To keep the music making process simple. I’m almost there.
