I enjoyed the video. if I did all the profile modifications you mention, will I get answers or response to what I post? I complained to LinkedIn and who I am following. My last option is to begin closing down my LinkedIn profile, which I will never go back too. It has been a nightmare or terrible experience. You did a great job I wish I known this 10 years ago. Thank you.

Great video, Heather! I think one of the lesser known benefits of LinkedIn is that you can really leverage keywords to increase exposure to recruiters. It's common for recruiters when looking for candidates through LinkedIn to do keyword searches, so it would be a benefit to anyone building out their LinkedIn profiles to think about what experience they've had, where they would like to take their career next, and what recruiters might be looking for in the field that you're interested in, and make sure to include relevant keywords so they can be discovered. Very similar to anyone running a blog or KZitem channel...SEO is important! 👍👍👍

Hi Heather - glad I found this. I used to be on LinkedIn about 7-8 years ago, and even went on an in-person training course to get up to speed at the time, but then it didn't work for me. Now in my new role as Marketing & Tourism Lead for Rochester, UK it is a GODSEND! I won't be using LI to find another job - I've got one I love! What I WILL be using it for is to make contact with other professionals, groups & associations in the travel & tourism industry to introduce Rochester as a new, heritage-filled destination most visiting tourists to the UK never normally get to see. I'd be really interested if you were to produce a video showing how LI can be used to promote your current role around the globe - there has GOT to be a lot of people like me in all sorts of industries who need this more, post-pandemic, to re-establish lines of communication and business. Loved watching the video - really helpful!

awesome video. I reallly liked the Expertise section at the bottom of the About section, which allows us to specify a large number of keywords, without potentially getting into the hot water with the LinkedIn's algorithm wrt to the keyword stuffing. To be clear, what I understand by keyword stuffing is when you specify the same keyword a high number of times, which turns your text into a complete drivel. In comparison, just specifying those keywords, one by one, in the last section in your About intro is a great strategy and it doesn't violate the algo requirements since you aren't repeting the same keyword multiple times trying to impact your SERP results.

3 жыл бұрын
Pro tip: Recruiters will often search by "years of experience" so don't put any work experience/internships on your profile that isn't relevant or while you were college because it may exclude you from searches from the job you want.
@harrymic75
3 жыл бұрын
Hello, can you explain this about excluding irrelevant experience. For persons with lower than required expertise for their field, wouldn't all the experience needed to be added to add some substance to the amount of expertise.
@CareerShakers
3 жыл бұрын
@@harrymic75 It's the relevant experience that matters at the end of the day. For example, if you are applying for an accounting job that needs 5 years of accounting experience and you have 1 year of accounting and 4 years of marketing experience, you wouldn't be qualified for the role.
@harrymic75
3 жыл бұрын
@@CareerShakers yes I'm aware, hence why I used the modifier of having less experience. I sometimes believe you can get at least an interview with the presscibed outlined requirements for a vacancy post. Sometimes the total body of work can be appealing versus having the outlined requirements.
