I can't say I was much of a Linkin Park fan before - I knew some songs but that was it. So I am probably not entitled to have an opinion about this. But I actually like her. I've had The Emptiness Machine in my head for a while now. So you know what? I am here for this. And you're right being an ass about it is pretty much the worst thing you can do. Also it's not the same as Nightwish - Tarja could have theoretically come back. But with LP... Yeah this is LP now. And you know what? They're actually pretty good.

AC\DC, Queen, Queensryche, Anthrax, and even Hanabie and Babymetal all went through a change and made it out. Most of them ended up being more iconic after the member was gone, although we still have yet to see about Linkin Park. No, she's not Chester (No one is or could be), but I think she's doing a fantastic job given the immense pressure. As a gen x'er, I saw Layne Staley, Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, and more suddenly go. Each band moved on in their own ways. As much as I hate it, change is inevitable and a bitch to fight, but it can also be a good thing.🙂

Replacing a man with a woman is pretty crazy. It takes a moment, but she's a good successor.

We're getting enough moronic Chester comparisons as is. Imagine what whoever guy they'd pick would go through.

It seems to me that LP have the most toxic fanbase of all the bands I know. Or there is hudge gap between LP fnabase and Chester fanbase. Especially Chester's fanbase is the worst one. Which is really ironic. Chester stood for love to everybody and agains bully and hate and he wanted their music to be bigger than them, yet his followers that named themselves keepers of his legacy do nothing than spread hate and poison an cyberbully them and especially Emily (and Mike also) for continuing his legacy. It is really disgusting s__tshow. Edit after I actually finished the video - Yes, Nightwish had toxic fanbase too, yet they left shortly after Annette joined them. Yet she get the most s__t. And Tuomas too. Situation was quite different tho - No social media and people were dissapointed for her live singing on shows (and she really was not good live most of the time) and people were leaving those shows because of that. Now Emily gets s__t in social media even tho their shows are sold off and there is happy party on them and people are happy on those shows wit her. Great reaction tho, you sumarised it very well how it is and I am glad that somebody in reaction finaly talks about it.

Emily is incredible live too. The livestream really didn't do her justice, you could tell how nervous she was. The London show was so good on Tuesday

@@DeanD1 I totally agree. Well the whole music world was on her shoulders that afternoon. Just the thought of going into a band to (in reality) repalce one of the most famous singers which passed away which made him even more legendary than he already was, in front of audience that have no idea what is going on on the show that is worldwide live... And sing very difficult and emotionally heavy songs. I cannot even imagine. You do not know what to expect of audience, how their reaction will be. Your nerves, insecurity, fear, discomfort, all the emotions, all on overdrive and way above your head. And you know this is your most important show in your life. With a band you never played live before, no matter how much you rehersed, in front of live audience it is comletely different story. Should you sing it as you are comfortable to do it, or it is better to try immitate that guy before? What will be their reaction on that or the other? And you know you have to make no mistake at all. And because of everything I just wrote, you deffinitelly make a ton of them. But it was alredy pretty obvious, her hickups was emotions, not voice problems. And as she slowly get comfortable, second half of that show was already much better than first half. And with next shows and between them there were so massive jump in quality and her comfort on stage. Yeah. I get it. What botheres me, how many people cannot understand even fraction of this and first thing that came into their minds is to ridicule her for that and everybody that do understand this.

Same thing with AIC when Layne died, Sublime when Bradled Knowles died... They sang their hearts out for the fans, but got the hate...

I am super picky about female vocalists, but I do like her. I prefer her on their original songs, but I don’t hate this. I think I’d prefer a studio version, but I prefer studio versions with most singers. I appreciate each individual singer for what they bring to the songs. This version doesn’t move me the way the original with Chester does, but I don’t hate it at all.

Kudos. Mike wrote the words, the guy who sang them making a horrible mistake shouldn’t kill Mike’s words - he chose Emily to sing his words moving forward, and he made a great choice.
