Back on board my favourite dodger again! Rodge was actually quite lazy and spooky in this lesson, which I know isn’t totally unusual for him, but as I don’t ride him very often anymore it’s always a shock to me when he’s not trying to walk-to-canter me round the school at all times 😂 I was hoping to enjoy his much-improved flatwork during this lesson but apparently the school surface having changed colour and smell slightly after some heavy rain was far too distracting 🙈
After a couple of flat exercises focusing on getting him more off my leg he soon perked up and then the jumps came out, which of course woke him up a bit more! I completely messed up the approach to the first bigger fence, but Roger saved my butt as he always does, and after that we had a nice easy go at linking some fences together. We missed a few lead changes over the diagonal fences sadly (something Roger finds easy) because muppet rider forgot to ask each time, but it was good fun to get to jump Roger just a little bit bigger than I sometimes do! 😊
