Please, I have several questions: 1- What about drinking water and coffee, is it normal or does it stay in the esophagus and there is some suffering before it reaches the stomach, or how does it prevent acid reflux? Any problems such as fruits, tomatoes and spices, or are there some preparations and what is it 3- The main reason you have to relax the valve was it because of the colon and if so, is there now suffering with the colon 4- Why did you prefer Linux over the traditional process Nice

@@lilacsheer Hi Lilac, I have luckily found a surgeon that is happy for perform the LINX procedure for me, but only privately (i.e. not on the NHS). I have health insurance, but the insurer is refusing to fund it. They are saying that LINX is not proven to work as per the NICE guidelines. Is there anything I can do to convince the insurer. I have mentioned that it has been approved by the FDA and other insurers in the UK are paying for it, but it has fallen on deaf ears so far. Thanks in advance.

Hey, really appreciate you making all these videos, like you say it’s difficult to find lots of information on LINX but every time I research it there seems to be more and more information out there 💪🏼. I’m worried that I will react badly to the anaesthetic as I’ve never had general anaesthetic before. I’m worried that I’ll want to be sick after the surgery but won’t be able to. Did you experience sickness from the drugs and could you be sick straight after? Would it be v painful? Thanks

Hi Charlotte you are very welcome, glad I can be of help. No problem vomiting whatsoever, that was one of the reasons I chose LINX. I personally had a reaction to the anaesthetic, but it was mostly just feeling uneasy & unwell, it does go away after a few hours so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Thank you for the all the tips, saying to eat all the trigger foods before the endoscopy is super smart! I've had endoscopy 2 times in the past when I didn't know what to look for.. all they would find is mild gastris, I although did fasting before or would eat clean before procedure. Now 3 years in I know I have signs of hital hernia and all drs in past would tell me I only have to much acid in stomach. I'm going to see a surgeon soon as well because all gastroenterologist drs would all tell me I'm to young or no issues found, or hungry which is terrible felt like a nightmare hearing the same things. They would give me pills for the acid ranitidine or diet plans to not trigger acid and I am also relating to your early experience, I've also 3 years in tried all natural remedies. I'd love to hear how you're doing now with linx 1 year in? I am now scheduled to see a surgeon qualified in hernias a internist. Thank you for your informative video!

@eowynqueen4822

Thanks for your comment. It reassures me that there are people out there like me. I'm in my 30's and have had two endoscopies and both times they say it's just mild gastritis and tell me that I'm too young for surgery. I'm getting discouraged but I have a doctor appointment soon and we might do the ph test since that is the first test needed to see if you qualify for a surgery. I have hot breath after I eat certain foods, especially spicy foods. I also suffer from a different problem which is some sort of allergies to certain foods (we can't figure out what is causing my sudden food allergies) and my throat will not only be hot but feel itchy too. I can't eat any spices like cinnamon, garlic, cumin, coriander, and others plus there are so many foods that make my throat feel like it's on fire like any and all oils, fried foods, chocolate, some kinds of dairy, avocados, melons, and so many more. So, I now avoid those foods altogether and eat a bland diet but I still have to sleep on an incline ( I bought the special bed), and I don't overeat. I've been on ppis for probably 5-10 years on and off. I'm tired of taking pills that have side effects, even though one can't always tell right away. I do not believe in pills to cure everything, and I think it's rather dangerous so I would rather get the surgery done. I feel like after all these years of trying to keep it under control, in return my throat is not every getting a chance to heal so I was thinking if I get the surgery done, then my throat can have a chance to actually heal and not have acid coming up all the time ( which would decrease the likelihood of getting throat cancer, which I'm very scared about). I hope you find a cure to your troubles and hopefully I will too whatever route we take.

Prior to LINX, I had food returning from stomach to mouth, like a mouthful. I had a small hiatal hernia .My mother had silent reflux (LPR), aspirated some stomach acid at some point, which caused inflammation in lungs, led to pulmonary fibrosis. She died of this in a most miserable year

But how come you having a Barrett’s esophagus while having the LINX IN? That doesn’t make sense! I had the LINX implanted 5-6 years ago and experienced little reflux, occurring once every month or two. Eat slower, small bites and chew well. DON'T start your meal with anything dry (bread, crackers, potato, rice, boiled egg etc..) and hang in there 💪🏻 Mine was slowly getting better from 3 weeks on.

@@lilacsheer thanks lilac for your quick response. I had mine only 2 days ago and am now struggling with eating especially. Even if i have water it feels like it gets stuck in the food pipe. I was also treated by Mr Boyle who advised me to start having solid foods straightaway more to get the device to function better. I also had the hiatus hernia repair.

I had high hopes for EdoStim, but found it had a lack of funding. Not sure if that is due to bad test results or what. I would think a new treatment for such a common ailment would continue to get backing if it looked promising. If the results were good I would also think crowd funding would actually raise a lot of money.

Thank you for this. I'm 33, and I'm nearing the 10 year mark of being on ppis, ranitidine/and have been dealing with the whole progressive story you have been through. I've put it off for soooo long, and I've also tried to lose weight and do little things here and there but I always end up stopping and just dealing with it and going on wit my life. It's like you said. I have to really want to fix this. No matter how difficult I have to stick to it. I have heard so much success about Linx but I'm scared to put some metal foreign object in my body. Especially since it's still relatively new. I'm concerned about long term affects. I also want to fix it naturally, because what if I get linx and the underlining issue is really foods that I shouldn't be eating. Idk. I really just want the root cause fixed. :(

Hi Dudesta, truly sorry to hear of your struggles, I was also suffering on and off for about 10 years, progressively. I don't know that the surgery replaces natural treatment because at the end of the day like you said it has to be a healthy combination of the two, the links allow for a significant and acute change in quality of life, however it's the complementary medicine that is required for long-term healing and and prevention through resolving the core issues. I was in the exact same position concerned about putting a foreign object in my body, I was simply in a place where after doing all the tests and considering my options for a better life - this was by far the best option. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you, 30 years ago my father broke his ankle in 3 different spots where he now has metal nails holding it in place 🤣 and today he is running & swimming! so metal in the body is no new concept to medicine.

But I had too quit caffeine in September which killed me . I only toolk ppi for 7 weeks at low dose and gaviscon. My ent felt I always had reflux and reckons my throat never recovered from acid . My question is lpr pepsin or can it just be acid ? As we all reflux sometimes it could be . I felt ok on ppi but I chose too diet instead and see

I've done two tests, one of them they put a rather thick tube down your throat through the mouth, but if you tell them that your sensitive to swallowing then they will do it under local anaesthesia - That's what I did, twice. The other test is indeed a swallowing test for which you need to sit in a chair and be present, it is with a much smaller tube that goes through the nose into your throat but I cannot say it was a pleasant experience 😝🤦🏼♀️ Feel free to join our community and subscribe 🙌🏻
