@@jonblazeinc Thought you might wanna know... while I can't confirm a direct influence, I now suspect you're really onto to something. The songwriters were Jay Alanski and Eric Dierks-Hagen (aka Jacques Duvall). Both of them were in a punk band called The Phantoms and they backed Lio during the Le Banana Split era. This song was released only five years after the Stranglers formed, and within only a couple of years after the release of Stranglers' Rattus, No More Heroes, and Black and White. Those three were all critically acclaimed and the band already toured and broke through to an extent in the U.S. -- The Stranglers would have certainly been known all over Europe by this time. It would have been a fresh new sound that young punk writers wanted to capture. But also given JJ's French heritage, and the Stranglers' habit of injecting French influence into their work, and double entendres... it's not far-fetched to think that Belgian punks were paying close attention and emulating their sound to create a hit. I'm speculating based on circumstantial evidence but it makes sense. Ever since I saw your comment, I haven't been able to stop picturing Cornwell singing those lyrics, and it making perfect sense. If I ever meet those writers, you know what question I'm asking!

@Jammes Luckett this is groundbreaking information you just dropped haha....appreciate reading this . Likewise I imagine Hugh or JJ singing over it but with much heavier sound all round...the bass , guitar and definitely Daves organ sound would have been heavier. But yes seems the Stranglers influence is all over this...think this was recorded in 1979 ( when Stranglers released the Raven album ) . Seems we both have a musical ear to spot this lol...Good conversation
