For the D alternate just use a c major shape starting on the 3rd fret. Just touch the d string with your middle finger instead of pushing it all the way down.

Thanks for the tutorial Brian. I think in future it would be good if you wrote out the full word 'alternate' rather than just alt, since alt already has a meaning in music (Altered, meaning a dominant chord with a #5, #9, b5 or b9) That might just help to avoid any confusion - for example if someone who watched this tutorial goes and plays music that says "Dalt" they might play that Dsus chord you showed!
