Fun fact: Lions roar with their voice to the ground making it travel a further distance and making it a lot louder. For reference the Lions roar is around 114 Decibels which is just about the same as a bolt of lightning and some can reach roars as loud as jet engines.

I can believe that! A year or two ago I was out when a military aircraft flew quite low directly overhead ( they were doing drills at the time). The power of the engines literally made the ground shake and you could feel the reverberation in your ribcage. The lion’s roar as you describe would have to be close to that power! I get the feeling that the lion here was not fully opening his pipes and he could roar louder than this if he was angry or upset.

Around five years ago, we went to the zoo for the first time. My dad offered eating hotdogs at the entry before going in for the trip. While we were at it, we heard a roar. I dropped my hotdog at the sound, it was scary as hell. A very deep, vibrating, loud roar that still sends shivers down my spine when i remember it. I remember breaking into a cold sweat at the sound, it got me shivering under the blazing sun. Right I always thought part of the reason lions look so intimidating is because of their manes. Even my brother once told me he thinks male lions look more scary then lionesses and seem more intimidating because of their huge manes. I'm pretty sure both male and female lions are just as frightening and dangerous and male or female no one would want to come across one in person. A difference is the male lion is bigger in size and has a huge mane he's iconic for. Yes lions are the king of the savannas because they have the loudest roar in the savannas. 💯

One of my neighbors, who is normally very quiet, makes a loud noise too, when clearing his throat. Imagine going from a very quiet, beautiful morning to a loud roar. Scares me every time. I hate loud, sudden noises.

I think it’s so wholesome and incredible the kids reaction at the end. I feel like the new generation wouldn’t be able to appreciate the wonder of witnessing such a powerful mammal assert it’s gut and roar. Such a fascinating sight that must have been. Harvest the experience kid!! Let it connect you to a ever connecting power greater than any of us. 🦁🌎

The first video to actually show the real power behind this roar. I'd imagine the video itself doesn't do it justice. Amazing!
