Fascinating to see the interior of a model train, some parts trying to be realistic others simplified because they are never seen normally.

Very resourceful information on these models. I've done plenty of diesel electrics and now just getting into the steam locomotives now in life. They really require much more patience for servicing than a diesel electric does Lol. But awesome video, I just actually acquired a nearly mint condition 1950 2035 and found its having trouble going in forward position, but flies in reverse, so believe my E units dirty and or contacts are loose for forward running? There's just a lot more smaller parts and pieces inside and outside of these steamers over a diesel. Thank you for making this video for idiots like myself who want to see how bad things are beforehand Lol!

These( the K4 ) are no doubt the most difficult to dissemble and re assemble. They are quick though.

Good video. The 2035 is a good running engine.

This is so helpful, thanks! Dad and I are rebuilding his 2035 and this will make it so much easier! One thing you didn't mention in reassembly is when you put in the top motor screw, although you did mention the side motor screw, so maybe you put them both back in at the same time?

Agreed. Just picked one up today and tore it down BEFORE checking for a tutorial….. put it all back together and now it’s dead. It ran for a few, then the e unit went randomly in neutral, reverse, neutral then forward. Now she’s kaput. I guess I’ll be taking it apart again.
