The OT was what GRIT looks like. It was In your face, smash mouth Football all the way! Open wide cause here it comes.

That drive to end the game was TOUGH! Loved it. They need to clean some things up obviously but a gutsy win.

The Rams blogged the center taking the center routes away from the Lions.

Yeah, great game!. Lot's to clean up, but mostly it was the Rams and Matthew Stafford fighting and clawing despite the Lions being the better team. Like you saiid it was a good opportunity to shake some rust off and get tested. The Lions shot themselves in the foot a bit here and there, but they have such a great team now it's hard for them to lose. Hutch took that game over from the beginning. I know he didn't get many stats but the Rams were throwing everything at him to limit him and still he was pressuring Stafford to move or get rid of the ball. Great game from him other than that penalty. Davenport!! Davenport survived the game and he looked pretty good out there. They gave Montgomery 12 carries early and then it was the Gibbs show to the point I thought Monty might have gotten banged up... Kinda strange how the divided the carries in this game. Seems like they really wanted to lean on Gibbs more in this game and then going to overtime changed that?? Jamo. Obviously he had a great game, but I loved his post game interviews. He's SO EXCITED! Levi. Levi played a lot and it looked like he had at least as good a game as Alim, so not a bad outing for him. Branch. Moving to safety is going to be so great for him and the defense. Carleton Davis. He totally whiffed on a Kupp pass breakup that luckily Kupp dropped, otherwise it was going for 6 AND he gave up a big penalty... SHAME Jake Bates had a perfect game, which is nice because we needed him to. Anzalone was doing work out there tonight too, but not as much from Jack Campbell. The punt that sat down inside the 5 only to be knocked into the endzone.. Such a shame. Just a great ugly team win!! There are wrinkles that still need ironed out on both sides of the ball but I thought this was a great gritty start!

Holding Hutch throughout the game and a tripping. It was really annoying!!

Seemed like a quarterback who hasn't had a significant snap behind a center for a year. No preseason will do that IMO. Hopefully he gets comfortable for next week.

Naw man, Anzalone should have game ball for defense...he made just about every tackle in the first half

I agree with you 100% My quick reaction did not take the full box score into account. In my latest video I give him the credit he deserves. 13 tackles and 3 TFL's!

Oh, I'm really tired of listening to these announcers that are pro LA, or Dallas, or KC, or any other team but Detroit. Just saying.

What a game! WOW! Lions punched the Rams right in the mouth in OT! How did the Bears let Monty walk????

Monty seems to get stringer each year. The fact that they can lean on him like that in a HUGFE moment says it all!

I was hoping we could have come out in the first quarter like we did in OT. But a win is a win. Thanks JG.

They wanted us to beat them long and not underneath. That’s why St brown and Laporta was quiet.

Our Defense played great. Only 20 points is what you want your defense to do.

It felt like the adults came to play once the OT coin was flipped. I was really glad to see them put their stamp in the game. Week 1 is always weird and when the starters don't play in the preseason it can be a crap shoot.

This configuration of Detroit's O-Line's played together for the first time in a game and I thought they looked a bit anemic until OT. I'm not too concerned about their D. IMO they showed the potential to improve over time especially when DJ comes in. He could be a game changer. My real concern is that teams now have tape on how to shut down RA and LaPorta.

You make excellent points. I was also surprised to see OLine struggle in a few spots. I am hoping this game and some more time this week will get them more into shape. They def need more interior pressure. Hutch and Davenport were pretty good but I am hoping for more once DJ is fully back!

What did you like about the Lions win over the Rams? What stood out in a bad way?
