Great Video. I know it is and old video but that is the great thing about the internet. It is forever. I too have been experiencing this problem for a couple of years now. I can tell the motor works harder to retract the slides than to extend them, and it is always my main slide (the largest and heaviest) that causes the problem. Knowing the system worked before, led me to believe the slide was either binding or facing some other form of resistance. I have tried a new motor, without success. I also replaced the cheap plastic rollers with "heavy duty" (not cheap, but still not high quality) steel rollers (they lack any bearings). I didn't find much useful information regarding maintenance on these systems so, like you, I have been trying to figure it out myself. I don't have a good baseline to know what the motor load was originally, but I verified during extraction, the motor draws 36 amps. During retraction it draws 63 amps, pretty consistently. The breaker does cut out, which I would expect. Replacing an over-current protection device such as a fuse or a circuit breaker with a higher one goes against standard practice. I only say that to say, I believe my slides are working as well as can be, so I am willing to try this fix. I originally suspected the original 50 amp breaker had just weakened over time, but knowing the current is exceeding the rating of the breaker by more than 50% tells me that might not be the case. Even if it is, a new one, most likely would not solve the problem. I read the document you attached to this video. It concerns me that the 80A recommendation was pulled from Lippert's technical bulletin. I can imagine there were problems with people using the higher current breaker to mask a bigger problem. With all that said, I wanted to ask if now, four years later, assuming you still have this trailer, have you had any further issues either with the circuit breaker replacement of the slide not working properly? Thanks for the great info.

Excellent video and you are right that there is not too much information on the slide breakers available that is as detailed as your video. This is the exact issue I am having with my 2020 Montana. One question/concern I have is it appears that you have connected your slide power cable to the battery input side of the breaker. Should it not be on the output side post? Won't this bypass the breaker?

@@MingoMoon - Yes, my 2009 Heartland Landmark 375 has 4 50amp automatic circuit breakers, each powering different systems . The circuit breaker connected to the leveling system had failed completely leaving me stranded. I swapped one of the other 4 breakers with the bad one and everything performed normally. I switched the circuit breakers back to original position and put a new 80amp ACB in place of the failed ACB on the leveling system - works great now with no problems. Thank you, Dan

Great video. I replaced the 50 Amp auto reset switch on my Heartland Cyclone and it seemed to be working for a month or so. I started looking for an 80 Amp auto reset and almost ordered. I will be ordering after I finish this comment. The article you attached is priceless. Thank you for posting your video.

Great video. I have been seeing this issue on my LCI Ground Control 3 leveling system. The battery says fully charged but the power blinks when it it is driving down the front Jack's when the trailer is more than two degrees out of level. I'll break out the clamp ammeter and verify that it is pulling to much current and tripping the auto breaker.

Yeah, that sounds like a good place to start. As a side note, I know that these auto-leveling systems get a little cranky when your more than 2° off. Sometimes will throw the calibration settings all out of whack causing it to go crazy during setup or tear down. Good luck with your trouble-shoot! 🤠👍

This is a good video, even if we don't have an auto-leveling system. Thank you for sharing the information.

Replaced with 80amp fuse for stuttering on mid bunk slide and bed slide..it worked for a bit now bunk is fine..bed slide and awning now stutter. I was going to replace that row of 50 amp fuses with the 80amp.

Good video :) I got same problem as you, but me it is just when I retract the slides or the jacks. Do you have two brakers for your hydrolic system ? Me I have 6 points auto-level jack + 5 slides, all hydrolic. But I only see one braker of 100AMPS, did you have to change two brakers? I got a Forest River Sandpiper 381RBOK 2017. Thanks for your help.

I have this problem as well, I have noticed that it mostly it has happened when My batteries are low. If I am plugged into shore power and slide in or out and work my leveling system it works fine, but here lately it seems that my batteries are not holding the charge and if I slide on battery the breaker will pop but reset after a seconds. Wonder if low voltage will also cause the breaker to pop
