Lipton's Seat Sri Lanka Haputale
Lipton's Seat is a famous spot in Haputale, about an hour away from the town. It's a viewpoint named after Thomas Lipton, a Scottish businessman. He came to British Ceylon in 1890 and teamed up with James Taylor to introduce tea gardens to the country. Before Lipton came, Taylor tried growing coffee, but it was ruined by a leaf-blight. With Lipton's assistance, they started a business venture that lasted beyond their lifetimes.
Lipton's Seat is a famous place where Thomas Lipton used to sit with a cup of tea, enjoying the view of his estate. Nowadays, you can still get a fantastic view from there, and there's even a statue of Lipton on a bench for pictures! It's best to go early in the morning to avoid crowds and morning fog. From the viewpoint, you'll see amazing scenery-hills changing from dark blue to bright green as the sun rises, and the sky turning various colors like lilac, pink, and orange before becoming blue. However, by noon, mist can cover the views, so plan your visit accordingly. It's a must-visit for everyone who enjoys beautiful scenery.
