For everyone commenting that shade 9 is too light: Thank you for taking the time to comment BUT camera settings, lighting plays tricks! I have worn this foundation several times now and I’ve tried darker shades (ended up getting light/medium set 2 too), shade 9 IS my perfect match. My ethnicity and undertone makes it seem like I should be darker but I am actually very light in colour. Only I have seen my face in day light, low light, artificial light, and knows my face and skin, so please stop commenting that shade 9 is too light because I swear, see me in real life, and you will see that it is a perfect match. 😅

For everyone saying that the shade is too light for her, please remember that she does not have studio lights, and her lighting might make her skin look much darker than in reality. A lot of women from white Caucasian descent actually use foundations a bit darker than their skin, and that flatters them as it adds in the yellows and beige tones sometimes missing in their skin, and that gives them a healthy flattering look. Women from Asian descent, and other ethnicities with more olive or a bit darker skin colours need to match their foundations as exactly as possible, and if the foundation gets darker from oxidation, their skin might just look dirty and lacking glow. That’s probably why most Asian women don’t use too much bronzer, and they don’t like tanning too much. Again this is just from observation of different skins with make up and not a generalisation.

@alghiouan This comment is 100% spot on! I'm half Caucasian / half Asian. Here is what I experience: -- If I do a color match to my body (which is several shades darker than my face and neck), it's going to be too dark. -- If I do an exact color match to my face, then it can look too flat. -- So I go one full shade lighter (with the correct undertone) and bronze up the edges. This is even more important now that I'm older (45). I can't do the KZitem trend of layering a thick foundation in a darker shade with a much lighter concealer under the eyes and the high points of the face -- all the product would get caked on and settle into my fine lines and pores. I also find that even though companies are offering more shades, they are making the undertones too strong. So unless I want to buy 2-3 bottles of foundation at a hefty expense and custom mix my perfect shade, I'll have to pick the best color. Being half Caucasian / Asian gives me a golden body, with a golden perimeter of my face, and a pinkish-neutral interior. There isn't a single color that's going to work, so I hack it the best I can.

The number of white women in the comments policing what shade aijing should wear is astounding. Especially when shade 9 practically blended into her face and neck. How much darker a shade would fit her better? Just because y'all like to use fake tan to turn yourselves orange and then get a darker foundation to match doesn't mean the rest of the world likes to look orange too.

Like 2. I think they don’t understand olive undertones. You can’t really go up or down a shade if you have olive undertones. If the shade up or down isn’t olive or at lease yellow. It will scream orange or pink. What are you talking about.

I wasn't entirely happy with the result of this video because I feel it was a bit disorganised and I didn't say everything I should have said in the order I wanted to, so here are some key points: In the video, I didn't prime, powder or use setting spray. All I was wearing was moisturiser and sun screen underneath. My skin: light yellow undertone, dry with hormonal breakouts, I often suffer with foundation clingey on dry patches and looking cakey. The foundation: medium buildable coverage with a finish that looks like your face has been powdered, making it look super soft-focus and blurred; medium liquid consistency that blends out super easily with fingers The verdict: it wears beautifully and I will definitely be picking up a bottle!

So surprised that you picked the light sample cards as it’s very obvious that you are a light-medium. I knew you would find your shade in the last sample card. But I actually think the best shade will be number 16 which is olive and a little darker than 9.
@Aijingaling

@@hanniehoekstra8511 I’m usually the second lightest shade with other brands, which is why I went with the light sets. My skin looks darker than it actually is and I often get matched too dark by MUA at counters. Shade 9 is the best for me as I tried shade 11 as well for a wear test and it definitely looked a bit orange. 😅

I also made a big order and I got two sample cards for free. I bought two more, i.e. 4 in total, as knowing how fast stuff can sell out with Lisa's launches, I didn't want to spend too much time thinking what shade set I may be exactly in her foundation. I am glad that I did in the end, as I ended up being sort of in the middle of my cards: 6 and 8 look practically identical on my face, I wore them one on half of my face and the other on the other half and they looked indistinguishable from each other (though they do look a bit different when just swatched on the arm), and I am thinking of using 11 as a mixer if I want to warm them up a bit and as a standalone shade for the summer, as all the shades in between are not the right undertone for me.

That’s so interesting! I think 9 is best match for me but it’s just a touch too light. No. 11 is a touch too dark. 😕 Shade matching is sooo tough, but I like going lighter rather than darker because bronzer is always at hand. 😝

Lisa Eldridge’s website colour matched my foundation Bourgois Paris Healthy Mix 52 to 9 but it did say this shade may be a bit pinker than Healthy Mix 52. I am south Asian with a fair olive complexion like you who tans golden much like your forehead. I think 9 is a great match for you because it matches your ears very well and brightens up your whole face without use of any highlighter. Often your front neck is in shadow and I find the ears/behind ears/side neck a better way to match your shade especially, when you normally wear your hair pulled back. 11 will be a good shade for you too if the rest of your face is tanned like your forehead during the summer months. Thanks to your video I will order both 9 and 11 to customize for all seasons.

@@Aijingaling I received my foundations and 9 was a great match for me. It does have a bit of pink on me as suggested by Lisa's colour match on her website so I just add a bit of 11 for a nearly perfect match to my complexion. Likewise when I wear 11 during the summer months when I'm tanned I think I will need to add a bit of 9 to tone down the yellow/orange. Thanks again for your video!

She had a large range of shades. I can’t say whether the range is good for dark skin but the light shade range is very impressive. Hence why it seems surprising that LE wears 11. But undertone is quite important as well. 11 doesn’t necessarily mean darker than 10 as the undertone is different. I would wait for the swatch cards as it’s expensive to get the wrong shade!

Hi I think 9 is a little too light for you. It’s beautiful but there is a marked difference between your darker neck and shoulders so you could take a darker shade
@Aijingaling
2 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, number 9 is a good match as when I place it an inch in front of my ear, it blends in seamlessly. I have worn shade 11 all day as well but it definitely looked too dark. My chin and my neck were completely different colours, I looked orange. It’s winter and my shoulders will not be showing and my hair covers up my shoulders all the time anyway. My neck is more yellow rather than darker. I personally prefer my foundation lighter rather than darker (if I can’t find the perfect match) because it’s much easier to warm up with bronzer than trying to not look 🍊

@@Aijingaling It’s true. If you have olive undertones everything else is definitely going to be too orange or pink and it will look horrible or should I say not as flattering. Doesn’t matter if it’s lighter or darker all you see is orange or pink. Yellow undertones might be passable.
