Lisps in Children!
There's a misconception that the /s/ sound is a "teeth sound". Although the teeth do help in making the /s/ sound "crispy" and clear, saying a correct /s/ sound is all about TONGUE POSITION.
Lisps are not caused by missing teeth when children lose their baby teeth. Here is a video to show you exactly what the tongue does when making a correct /s/ sound. Alyssa lost her baby teeth a few months ago and was happy to show everyone her gap so that we can see her tongue positioning when she speaks.
And a little trivia for you...Alyssa used to have a lisp when she was younger. We successfully treated it in a few sessions and home practise and now she speaks clearly without lisping at all.
