Riblja Čorba have very strong lyrics in their songs, it's what they emphasize the most hence it's better to listen to them understanding what they say. Also understanding Balkan mentality helps. I especially like about them that their song topics are so varied instead of mostly singing about love like most artists do. "Pogledaj dom svoj anđele" is one of their best songs.

Kemal Monteno was from Bosnia (not Montenegro)... Actually, his father was Italian (I think war prisoner after WWII that stayed in Bosnia) - that's why he has Italian sounding family name. And mother was Bosnian. He was from Sarajevo. And spent most of his life there. He died in Zagreb (Hospital Rebro) 9 years ago after surgery. He wrote most (or all) of his songs and songs for many other artists. At his funeral they played one of his songs: "Sarajevo, ljubavi moja" (Sarajevo, Love of Mine - or - My Love) Btw. (I don't know Bulgarian song), but Divlje Jagode - Jedina moja is from late 70's, Riblja Čorba (it's Chorba) - Amsterdam is from late 80's (or maybe 1990), Van Gogh - Ludo luda is from 2000's and Monteno and Oliver Dragojević - Nije htjela should be from 2001 or 2000 when he recorded bunch of songs as duets with different artists (whole album).

Divlje Jagode (Wild Strawberries) played for BBC radio live in 80es. There is a video on YT. Sounds great. "Jedina moja" is early stage song of WS, later (with other singer-Alen) they became more hard and heavy. And Riblja Corba (Fish Stew- in slang female period) is iconic Yugoslavian (and Serbian) rock band. They had songs about everything... love, hate, jealousy, politics, social, bars, hookers, childhood, drinking, religion...

That was the first singer of the Divlje Jagode band, who's voice didn't quite match the band's genre (rock/metal). IMHO, the best singer of the band was Tifa, I recommend to listen to the song "Konji". Neverthless, songs with Ante Jankovic in the early days of Divlje Jagode remain iconic to my generation. Also, the guitarst, the Alpha & Omega of the band, Zele Lipovaca, is probably one of the best guitarists in the region and even broader (was invited to join Whitesnake but he refused).

Yes Kemal Monteno is from Bosnia. He was born in Sarajevo and interestingly his father was an Italian soldier who fell in love with his Bosnian mother while he was in Sarajevo during WW2. After the war he decided to stay in Sarajevo with his new wife. That's why Kemal Monteno has Bosnian name and an Italian surname.
