I'm a definite Lister fan for sure, but, I have several Gardner engines in my river tugs and a couple of Listers and on an even basis they both perform their jobs perfectly, I don't tend to get trouble from either and if I do then they are easily repaired, but, they hardly ever go wrong. Currently overhauling one of my tugs, A-Jay, she's got a Lister HA4 with a lister LH500 hydraulic gearbox, fantastic little tug for only 45hp, but, she slogs away all day pushing 9, 15 ton barges at a time on the Thames. Fantastic machines these old engines.

Used to look after a JP2 marine engines pump and injectors for an old guy. He'd pull the injectors once a year for testing and a clean if necessary and every 2 nd year remove the pump to bench test it and change the oul in the cambox.

Many many months of work went into this beauty, nearly everything ended up being custom made, Pistons, liners, rings, bearings seals and gaskets ect, sadly nothing is readily available anymore for the JP engines.
