Little Arabella is a song off of Ars Longa Vita Brevis (1968), the second album by The Nice. It was composed by Keith Emerson and Lee Jackson. Rachel included this song in her solo organ performance at Synthplex 2022 in a set honoring the earlier works of Keith Emerson. During the solo section you may recognize hints of Jimmy Smith and Joey DeFrancesco, along with the jazz standard, "Sister Sadie." Jimmy Smith was an important musical influence to Emerson's organ playing, and you can hear that blues style throughout Keith's career. Rachel wanted to honor Keith's tradition as well as the jazz tradition of quoting favorite players during solos. As well as honoring Keith, Rachel wanted to honor the late Joey DeFrancesco now that he has become a part of jazz history. She thinks Keith would appreciate the gesture.
Thank you Emi L Tago for the video
