It's a crime that LF aren't in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. Lowell George was a musical genius and the music world was deprived of some great songwriting.

I saw little feat without knowing who they were at my first concert ever with the doobie bros when I was 16. Man... Im lucky to have discovered this live song and this unbelievable band.

I saw Little feet multiple times in the DC area (mostly @ Lisner Auditorium) throughout the early 70's and they remain one of the most talented group of musicians I ever saw. Seemed like every concert had super big names "drop in" like Jackson Brown, Linda Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt. Little Feet, Santana, and Pink Floyd are my musical benchmarks to this day.

I was watching the tribute concert and decided to look him up on Wikipedia . I was amazed at how many artists other than Jackson Browne championed the genius of Lowell George in covers , in songs about him , and in songs that only alluded to him . He was such an outlier of rock and roll that he became a cult figure . For that reason and others his songs with their content really couldn’t be played on the radio . He had played with so many great bands , starting with Frank Zappa. But again , they would probably not be played on the radio ; consequently he never made much money ; consequently the tribute concert to raise money for his family . Jackson has spent most of life championing Lowell George and called him " The Orson Wells of Rock and Roll “, another outlier and genius , among other things.

I have been a keen follower of Little Feat for many many years and basically have a full CD collection released by the band. Including a CD of Lowell George. I was able to see Little Feat several times and they never failed to amaze as a live band. Of course, it was 30 years ago. But their music still is played in my house....Billy Payne was one of the real special piano players of his day...don't know what he is doing now. All in all, one great concert without fail, especially with the proper state of mind. Lowell is doing the boogie in heaven.

I've seen the bright lights of Memphis And the Commodore Hotel And underneath a street lamp, I met a southern belle Oh she took me to the river, where she cast her spell And in that southern moonlight, she sang this song so well If you'll be my Dixie chicken I'll be your Tennessee lamb And we can walk together down in Dixieland Down in Dixieland We made all the hotspots, my money flowed like wine Then the low-down southern whiskey, yea, began to fog my mind And I don't remember church bells, or the money i put down On the white picket fence and boardwalk On the house at the end of town Oh but boy do i remember the strain of her refrain And the nights we spent together And the way she called my name If you'll be my Dixie chicken I'll be your Tennessee lamb And we can walk together down in Dixieland Down in Dixieland Many years since she ran away Yes that guitar player sure could play She always liked to sing along She always handy with a song But then one night at the lobby of the Commodore Hotel I chanced to meet a bartender who said he knew her well And as he handed me a drink he began to hum a song And all the boys there, at the bar, began to sing along If you'll be my Dixie chicken I'll be your Tennessee lamb And we can walk together down in Dixieland Down in Dixieland, Down in Dixieland

Folks you will never hear any two guitars play off each other better than this. Some call this chemistry when the perfect mix of musicians somehow come together. This is called Synergy. The interaction of parts or elements that when combined produce a total effect greater than the sum of the individual elements. In other words it's kinda magical. When it works there is absolutely nothing like it.

All opinions I suppose. But to my ears Feats syncopated funk is as good as gets. Nobody did it better. The Allman brothers were great but there's only one Feat. If you can sit still through this better check that pulse. They could be the House Band anywhere in New Orleans and that's saying a lot.

IMHO the Irony lies that they, or at least Lowell did such great work high as a kite most of the time. But still concise and always with that chemistry, Synergy and magical interaction you speak of rarely missing a beat. Unlike the Grateful dead whom I love and enjoy but while most dead heads wont admit were very sloppy, but they still played there hearts out.

Saw Little Feat with the Dead at Oxford Plains speedway in Maine back in the late 80's(those years were a blur). Just came across an old cassette of Waiting for Columbus and lucky for me my wife's Volvo s60 actually has a cassette deck. Played it the last couple of days to reminisce and WOW! forgot how hard these cats rocked! They should be in the RR HOF!!!! Little Feat is possible thanks to Frank Zappa but I'm glad their music is not as insane( sorry Mother's fans). I hope these guys don't fade away like the old rockers they are. Somehow a whole new generation needs to find the soul enriching music these guys make. Hope yall agree.
