There's a definite Japanese sound to the second part of the verse of this song. If it were to be played on a Koto it would really be obvious. I'm sure it's by design and demonstrates Jay's songwriting abilities.

Blast, you're right! Though they're not just the same video, the quality has definitely improved here.So maybe not as impressive as I'd thought, but they do still serve a purpose at least. (And I hadn't heard the song before.)Here's to hoping we'll hear an entirely new song in the future. In the meantime, I still have some old ones to catch up on :D

@@conradnal8934 I thought it was a simple affair but after that lyric is makes it seem that the relationship wasn’t entirely consensual, and that’s why the narrator stuck around. Bare in mind this is speculation of a song written 4 years ago, so I’m probably wrong but I like to think about these things

Gobarn There isn't really a difference between the two. Mexico, Canada and the US are referred to as North America, then there's Central America, and finally South America. To all 3 people refer as "The Americas". Nobody really refers to anything but the US as just America anymore.

He's actually singing about the Yaohan Plaza near Colindale tube station. Built as an East Asian shopping centre, but sold off in the mid 2000s. The remains of the traditional Japanese garden could be seen slowly deteriorating for many years. On the site there now stands only a Morrisons supermarket.
