I am a retired elementary school teacher….My students , even the ones who thought music was Not “cool”, all dance their sillies out at the end of class. I moved to middle and school, and my students LOVED this. The power of Music…thanks Little Richard, you still make my day

This was a promotional, children's video Richard agreed to do. But the amazingly talented Little Richard, who created the music, and didn't collect a dime, created a 'rock you' sound that had the whole WORLD-including kids of all ages-dancing to 'ITSY BITSY SPIDER' Richard Penniman who left home at 16 cause his father hated his 'high pitched' outbursts, has rocked this world for 70years! May he RIP!

This is the history of ONE ALL-TIME CLASSIC, “Itsy Bitsy Spider”*… Known as the “Incy Wincy Spider” in Australia and the UK, the song can be found in musical publications - including alternative versions - such as “Camp and Camino in Lower California” (1910), under the title “Spider Song,” where “itsy bitsy” is changed from “blooming bloody.” Original lyrics from the “Spider Song” (1910) : “Oh, the blooming, bloody spider went up the spider web The blooming, bloody rain came down and washed the spider out The blooming, bloody sun came out and dried up all the rain And the blooming, bloody spider came up the web again” Lyrics for “Itsy Bitsy Spider” : “The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the waterspout Down came the rain And washed the spider out Out came the sun And dried up all the rain And the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again” In 1948, the nursery rhyme was published in the books “Western Folklore” and “American Folk Songs for Children.” More recently, “Itsy Bitsy Spider” has been covered and sampled by the likes of CARLY SIMON, “Coming Around Again” album (1987), NICOLE KIDMAN, “Dead Calm” movie soundtrack (1989), LITTLE RICHARD, “For Our Children” Disney CD (1991), RAFFI, “Let’s Play” album (2002), to name just a few. OH, and it was referenced in TWO SPIDER-MAN pictures in the 2000s, naturally‼️ Why is this piece so interesting? WELL, IT HIGHLIGHTS THE LIFECYCLE❕ Just as life has rises and falls, so does the spider… 💙🕷️💚 * The original author of the rhyme and melody is unknown.

RIP to the true architect of rock and roll... you never received everything you should have in this world. Starting from your horrible upbringing from a vicious father.. to Pat Boone's stealing your songs... which may have been a blessing in disguise because you Open the Eyes of all of the white folks to your music and made the world better! So many little boys and girls have no idea about Tutti frutti, Miss Molly or any of your hits early on. But they sure dance to your itsy bitsy spider! What a talent!
