*As of November 2013 all of the larger Comstock Cage Traps will be completely powder coated, frames and wire, at no extra charge, which includes all framed traps in 9x11, 12x12 and 12x18 inch openings.
First developed in October of 2010, this is the first of the Comstock live beaver cage traps made and still in use today after many dozens of catches have been made. As of November 16, 2013 Jim Comstock has taken 377 beaver in these his cage traps ranging in size from 12x12x36 up to 14x22x44. Jim has made live animal traps with openings of 12x12, 12x18, 12x24, 14x16, 14x22 and all performed flawlessly. Three trappers combined catches of beaver in three years equal almost 1200, taken in Massachusetts, Washington and New York.
Since the first trap was made several years ago many thousands of beaver have been taken in Jim's standard 12x18x39 beaver cage traps. Trappers from Maine to Washington have broken their own best beaver trapping records made with body gripping traps, while using these cage traps. Anyone looking for a versatile beaver cage trap to catch live beaver will not be disappointed in these animal traps.
Though there have been no major changes to the first animal traps Jim made, there have been some improvements. The trigger rod and swing bar elements of the trigger are now round bars rather than one round one flat. The result is a smoother trigger with less friction. A 3/16" thick rib has been added to the beaver cage to house the trip rod, meaning there is no chance for bending. Though most any 14 gage wire will work in the triple trigger wire setup, they have replaced the soft 14 gage wire with hardened spring wire. A solid rod has been added to the seam and clipped with new heavy duty 7/8" wide bands making escape all but impossible.
If you are trying to find out how to catch a beaver, look no further. Jim and Judy and not only provide the most advanced traps on the market but will show you how to catch beaver like a pro, with the most advanced methods available.
Even before they made the first swim through, powered door, wire trigger beaver traps, Jim and Judy were making live raccoon traps, live skunk traps, live woodchuck traps, live armadillo traps and most recently live chipmunk traps and live squirrel traps. They even have live feral cat traps and live rabbit traps. Basically, if you need a reliable, super duty, humane live trap, these traps catch, hold and hold up to repeated catches.
