Great interview Josh. Pete is so positive, non egotistical, down to earth and well educated guy. It's nice you had him on your show.

This was a great conversation. Great to hear your thoughts and perspectives. Thanks Josh and Pete. Thanks also to Pete for actually referring to some of our Edmonton guys by name. Funny response about the Sex Pistols. Maybe that was not as an unusual influence as you might have thought Pete. The guy that turned me on to them was Colin James (yes, the Canadian blues guy) back in 1984.

Great interview Josh! Pete is such a humble and hard-working guy, in addition to being a monster player. What a pro.

Another great interview Josh. And I too feel the same way about NAMM as you do. I’m there mostly for the hang. AND I get to play new cool guitars?!! Oh hell yea!

Pete isn't alone in this era of KZitem musician. Its plain they all want the success of their rock heroes. That world is over. The ones who are doing it don't suffer the same kinds of problems discussed here. Pete is a professional in that he makes a living from music, but not for what he and every other working guitarist would prefer: to have their OWN songs be popular enough that it is the key to their success. Not cover gigs. Not lessons. Not shilling gear. Making their own music that is good enough for someone down the road to teach other people how to play. That's what's missing today. Fantastic players, very few true guitar heroes.
First solo I really had to work on to play because an improvised solo just wouldn't work was the solo from the studio version of Smoke on the Water. I remember being pretty pleased with myself that I could pull it off live. That was 30 years ago...

Bagging’ on the JC 120’s - blasphemy lol!!! Guys holy hell, I was once a blues/vintage Fender and Strat guy and worshipped Blues. Go get a JC 120 with some good delay and good drive (Wampler Pantheon) and your playing will forever be changed. Lush, beautiful, and inspired. That was so painful to hear Josh say JC 120 in the same category as Crate. No!!!!

Two super articulate experts like these two are what I want to hear. This is a totally fascinating interview guys! I feel like they are so similar in their stories but are so different as players. Thanks both! Josh what about Joe B interviewing you in this series?

I'd like to start a 3 peace band with these two guy's. Everyone plays guitar base and drums then changes instruments for the next song. It's never been done but we could do it, I new type of band.

Josh Smith: “I didn’t’ go to college “ says one of the most proficient, talented guitarists working today… blessed to have seen him at a young age in the Lauderdale area. 👍
