This was one of the greatest live performances by Live or any other band ever. The crowd was sooo into the song and the band blew the roof of that place. I watch every couple weeks coz it charges me up. Still can not get over the POWER of this song live.

Fucking seriously. The buildup, and the release at the end is not something I've heard of any song. And the audience singing along, all of those people releasing all of that energy, it is extremely fun to watch. Being there mustve been life changing.

@@andyturpen That's a lot of assumptions there. I did buy Secret Samadhi back in 1997... the album I find is not spoken of much when people talk about Live.. it's always about Throwing Copper. I love the loud and quiet dynamic and the use of the orchestra on this song with Ed's soaring/shouting vocals.

you know a lot of people thought that Ed, had started doing H. at one point because of how his performances had changed in a way that wasn’t as reserved previously to his change.. and yeah he was on an H. high but not heroin no, he was on a Holy high. He was one who was chosen to meet with their mouthpiece , advocate, comforter, council, for counsel and to see eye to eye their faith in flesh . I think that would make anyone shout louder, walk lighter, probably got a good jolt of grace, peace, and hope being blessed and sharing from the same cup..

I have always thought that Secret Samadhi was Live's best album and this is definitely their best track, but there are a bunch of good songs on that album and I never really understood why that album didn't get the love that it should have got. It kind of got looked over, except for the few of us that had this album and would go around playing this song for everyone. Me back in the early 2000's, forget throwing copper or dolphins cry, Secret Samadhi is where it's at. Still blows my mind that it didn't do better on the charts then it did. It had everything you could have wanted from an alternative rock band in late 90's early 2000's. That perfect blend or weird dark and mysterious without being too depressed or introverted, the right amount of bravado and heaviness with just the right amount of beautiful melodic lines, and his vocal always tying it all together. Still one of my favorite albums of that time period. Definitely one of the underrated ones, same goes with Silverchair's album that had David Helfgott playing piano on "Emotion Sickness" which was just epic in my opinion. Neon Ballroom was the name of that album. Neither of those got the radio play I would have expected them to get and both bands were coming off of huge albums before those 2 albums. I don't get it. I know people that loved Frogstomp and knew some of their songs of that album, but you mention Neon Ballroom and they have no idea. Maybe they had heard Anthem for the year 2000, but that's it. Which is crazy because while that is a great song and surely written to be the single of that album, when you hear emotion sickness, with a full orchestra and a famous concert pianist (that they had just made a movie about right before that album came out called "Shine") Anyways who know these things. I'm just happy to have been deep enough into my music addiction by that time that I was finding stuff like that and jamming out to it and sharing it with my friends. But if you like this song and haven't checked out the whole album yet, I encourage you to do so. I think it has a lot of good tracks on it. Graze, Rattlesnake, Turn My Head, Freaks just to name a few. If all of Lives work was like that Album, they would be even higher on my list of all time favorite bands. But they made on there nevertheless. Tool, A Perfect Circle, Deftones, Live, Dave Matthews Band, Primus, Mudvayne, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains. Hey, I grew up in the 90's, so it's not that suprising I guess. We lived through a better time musically then I realized at the time. But I think that just keeps happening over and over again. People always look back and romanticize the previous generations (in the 90's we were doing it to the "70s music, which did have some great music come out, I mean Jeff Beck alone......) as having been better music and it was the "golden age" of whatever (just like now the 90's looks like the golden age of hip hop), but the truth is that every generation has had some great stuff happening if you just knew where to look. When people tell me that there is no good music being made these days, I just scoff and say, you're not looking hard enough because there is more stuff being put out right now then there ever was, and it is easier then ever for artists to put out quality music and if you can't find something you like, it is because your not looking hard enough. Plain and simple. There is too much awesome stuff being put out in literally every single Genre you can think of and a few you don't even know about yet. Happy Hunting.
