Giving children access to healthy, locally grown food is the mission of the Farm to School Partnerships many school districts have implemented across the state. Aimee Haag of the Litchfield-Hutchinson-Dassel-Cokato School District is one of those schools. She teamed up with several local producers, including Nick and Joan Olson of Prairie Drifter Farm, who specialize in a wide variety of delicious greens, squash, peas and beans provide a local source of food.
Minnesota Grown and Prairie Yard & Garden offer you a video series exploring the variety and bounty of Minnesota's agricultural producers. Get an insider view from local farmers along with cooking tips and other insights into how to Live Local!
The Minnesota Grown Program is a statewide partnership between the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and producers of Minnesota agricultural products. Created in the late 1980s by specialty crop growers to differentiate their products, the program has become a trusted resource to connect producers and consumers. Minnesota Grown creates the online Minnesota Grown Directory, which connects Minnesotans directly to farmers, farmers markets, and other producers.
Each season, Prairie Yard & Garden travels the state to meet with researchers, gardening and nursery professionals, educators and ordinary backyard gardeners to discuss specific issues in horticulture, landscaping and a host of topics in gardening.
From Prairie Yard & Garden Season 36.
