I used to work for a storage vendor… we had a weird issue with a series of controllers that would randomly crash… turns out the manufacturer of a pci switching chip used a solder that emitted more alpha radiation than it should have… fun times

Yeah... this was my exact same concern while talking about this to a friend in a discord support channel after the initial video from Wendel and then Gamers Nexus dropped. "You know what really bothers me about the Intel 13/14th gen problem, is that this is going to plague the secondhand market for a decade. People will buy secondhand system, probably at a bargain, and end up with this issue."

@saturnFIV3
3 ай бұрын
@@Kongolox I use 12th gen, but if you're building a new system today, why go with Intel? Maybe I'm ignorant to something their CPUs are better at, but AFAIK AMD is at parity with performance and certainly at better temps. 12th gen isn't bad mind you but unless you're saving a lot of money buying used I don't see how it'd be worth it.
@tomhsia4354

@@saturnFIV3 Intel i5 is still competitive on price and quite efficient. That's the only reason I can think of. AMD loses on price to performance in the mid to low end.
@saturnFIV3

@@tomhsia4354 yeah now that I think about it, I did my build at the beginning of this year and went with 12th gen for that very reason. Price to performance. Shouldn't be surprised the cpu market hasn't changed much since then. Which is kind of ironic because AMD has historically been that low to mid range price to performance winner. I hope Intel does their best to put pressure on AMD to lower prices and innovate more. The fan boys are so silly. Do they know where x86 comes from lol?

@@blitzwing1 "blew out the power budget and is clearley starting to break things for some reason." and here's the problem, because according to Wendel, this is happening to 13900k and 14900k processors that are in servers running a 125W profile all day with really good cooling, and they're degrading. In those scenarios they're using less power than an Alderlake 12900K in an end users system for example. Something is really wrong with these if they're fine when installed in the servers, but then even at 125W with good cooling develop issues.

Windows + x86 is the only viable option, and there are more professional engineers/cad slaves than photo editors/movie editors which most arm users are(because of apple). So I dont see arm getting close to being nr1 for pro users yet, for avg users that only brows the net/use social media and watch movies sure..

I do not want a OS spying at every letter i type or when i pee sadly linux is still in the midle ages and in my view does not mean anything for at least 100 years to become and easy and handy OS where you can play games on , no do not start to rant that games run on linux NO they don't it a battle to get it running and the endless crashes ( far from a user friendly os ) No i am not a simple user i do know alot about any OS as i worked years in the IT branch. So yes i am often jumping into the good old prompt to get this freaking todo what i want it todo oir get rid of grrrrr B$ of forced stuff,but i am getting tired this endless battle never ends NO micro$hit i do not want your ads in fact i DO never buy anything which is constant in my face with ads it actually makes sure i WILL NEVER BUY anything of these companies. Count on that suckers with your ads and more and more people i meet started todo the same more ads mean they have too much money so stay away from that :D. The forces stuff means norton and mcaffee crap and guess what, Acer go to great lenghts to give that dirty crap forced on your pc ( they forget that i bought it AND DEMAND that i can remove all the spyware like norton.macafee, stop spying on people and let people decide if they want it on THEIR property it is not YOURS.
