Terrible Roads and no rapid transit to the metro area of Atlanta. I’m glad you brought up the roads, but I think that’s just the beginning. Atlanta is too car dependent. If you don’t have a car, cannot afford a car, you cannot make it in Atlanta. Don’t even get me started on the Uber prices. Thank you for bringing up the road issues, but we need to discuss transportation as a whole and how terrible it is in Metro Atlanta
@AminahOjere
2 жыл бұрын
Good point ! I’ve also heard that the public transportation that is available is not reliable at all? Everything is spread out, so I can only imagine not having a car. Hopefully it changes soon as the city and surrounding areas are expanding from what I can see (new apartments, stores etc) maybe they’ll be consideration for people without cars.

As far as the cost of living going up, you’re right.. it’s not fair to the people that live here. But this is what happens when people flee other cities for cheaper living so no shade but this is part of the issue. Atlanta overall has become very trash from the influx of new people. Completely different than the old Atlanta. But I think the country as a whole is experiencing a massive shift due to Californians, Floridians, New Yorkers, etc trying to seek lower cost of living. The result is the entire country suffering. The solution is simple: get ya money up cus we gone need it 😭 that free money folks was taking during the pandemic just made it even worse
@AminahOjere

I literally just said this to a friend the other day. The free money wasn't really free. Even her rent in Texas of all places went up. I can acknowledge that my move is apart of the problem for sure. Just like i moved because people coming to FL affected our rent. It really is a vicious cycle. And on top of that alot of cities are trying to mirror other cities with apartments, taxes etc. I agree with you for sure. Making more money is the solution lol.

People moved to Florida and messed us up. Our population went from 50,000 in the 40s to now 21 million in 2023. To add, most Floridians don't move out of state. We just move to a different city. So don't let people fool you and say they're from Florida. 7 out of 10, they are not.

I have lived in ATL before but moving back next month from CT due to cost of rent. I have 2 kids and I can rent an entire house in ATL area for what I’m paying for a 900 sq foot 2 BR with no storage only 2 small closets. No lie. The NYC people push us out of CT and we must seek cheaper cost of living.

@AminahOjere
Жыл бұрын
That is a hard decision. Houston is more laid back but you can get into some things for sure. Atlanta is more fast paced there is always something to do at all times. ATL is higher in crime.Both have that southern flare as far as food but Houston is definitely better in my opinion. You can find good varieties when you want to switch it up food wise. Houston is more affordable by far for renting and owning. But you can find ok options in ATL. Career wise if in media/music/business definitely ATL. If you can visit both places, do that for sure. Do your own research. I have other vids on my channel that help with finding apartments etc. Check them out if you like. My boyfriend and I are torn between moving the ATL and Charlotte. I personally feel ATL is more live and vibrant with a vast amount of opportunity and Charlotte is more for families which we don’t yet have of our own. Then on the other hand the crime in ATL can serve a dealbreaker. There’s crime everywhere, so it’s a tough decision.
@AminahOjere

Definitely a tough decision. I believe the cost of living is cheaper in Charlotte right? & True there is crime everywhere. Particularly in ATL, it’s in the major/inner city. The outskirts are better from what I’ve heard but to go out etc you’d have to commute which could get annoying. Some people don’t mind driving 30-45 mins especially if your not someone that’s outside like that . I would say write a list of pros and cons. That helped me alot !

Something a lot of people don't know. Atlanta is the only true metropolitan in the South. In America, cities and towns are interchangeable so a place with only 5,000 people can still be called a city. A metropolitan is what people think of when they say city. Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Charlotte, Columbia (South Carolina), Birmingham (Alabama), etc are cities but they are not metropolitans. There is nothing to do in these places. There's no work. So when others who have more money move to such places, it really distresses the natives because we already don't have much.

@AminahOjere
Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching . Atlanta is definitely I95N at 3pm! Then add in a extra 1-2 lanes hahaha. The rush hour times are standard though .But its different in the sense where you can almost exclusively drive to quite a few places on the local roads and those move a little faster.

@@AminahOjere Yes! I relocated here in 2000's. It was sooooo much better. Most people you ran into were native Georgians so there was genuine southern hospitality. Everyone left their car doors unlocked and slept with their garage doors open. We knew all of our neighbors and Hung out with them frequently. And there truly was a black excellence. Not this HOODRICH flex culture we see today. But that Atlanta, and just Georgia period has died. You can find bits of it in Elijay, or maybe even Forsyth.
