As a native Atlantan seriously considering a move to Houston next year, I found your assessment of both cities to be outstanding. Thank you for taking the time to post such a thorough review of each!

I Lived in Texas before but I was raised in Georgia I prefer Georgia myself. I like The Landscapes roads and weather more so than Texas. Plus Georgia is on Eastern standard time.

Thanks for tuning in and joining the conversation. Having lived in both places as well and now calling Atlanta home again, there are pros and cons to each of them. Hopefully this helps a few people find the one that works best for them.

In 1980 NIMBY's bitched so much the outer perimeter (20-25 miles outside of I-285) was shelved.

Yeah, it's a topic that resurfaces regularly. Never gets enough support to push it over the goal line. I'm personally in favor of an outer loop. At least around north Atlanta. Especially with the population explosion of late. While they're at it, I'll take another airport as well. 😊

@@LIVINGINATLGA The second airport ship sailed decades ago and now there's nowhere to build it. It couldn't be no farther north than Alpharetta and close to 400 with the northern arch connecting the east and west northern suburbs. The runways would be east-west and the NIMBY's would never stop crying about the noise. There's not enough room to build it now and anywhere further north wouldn't make sense.

Really good info! I’ve lived in both. Actually started out in Houston then moved to Atlanta then moved back to Houston where I’m at currently. You pretty much hit everything on the nail. Even though we moved back to Houston( mostly for Family purposes) we miss Atlanta. Definitely prefer Atlanta over Houston for the geography, 4 seasons, col(Houston on paper is cheaper but ppl don’t take into account Texas high property taxes, and Atlanta’s creative community) Houston ISD is definitely bottom of the barrel. It’s so bad that the state is now taking over the school district to “fix” it. But Houston food scene is wayyy better than Atlanta. Easily!
