I have been visiting Chattanooga, then Cleveland since 2006 . ...every August/September.. only missed 3 years since then. It is like the church capital of the world-- there's some great church history in Cleveland

I’ve unfortunately lived in Cleveland 60 yrs, and can honestly say Cleveland is a hole in the earth. If you want to do anything as far as dinning you still want to go out of town. The greenway has to be patrolled for criminal activity, Ocoee river is a class 3-4 not a class 5. Hospital’s you’ll want to be in Chattanooga.

Also, the Ocoee river is NOT in Cleveland. It is located in Polk County Tn.

You could always move. I'm sure other cities have no criminal activity.

Cleveland Tennessee I thought was a decent place to live in regards to diversity I was wrong. I lived in many places seven states in 10 different towns and cites three of the states are in the south Southeastern Tennessee, Southwestern Alabama and Northern Florida 45 minutes from Panama City and all of them are racist. But Cleveland, Tennessee I seen in action with my own to eyes how bad racism can get edges from going Violent. During the height of the black lives matter movement students from Lee University were protesting the removal of the Confederate statue that is in the center of the city near downtown. Actually it sits about a block to two blocks from the library. Now myself didn't like the statue but I will not try to interfere with always has been either that's just me basically don't rock the boat so to speak. The statue never bothered me and I'm a blackman I mean I grew up watching a show about two country good ole boys from a small county driving a orange 1968 Dodge Charger with the painting of the Confederate flag on top of the hood also named after the Confederate General of the South lol. So I may not like the statue but it didn't bother either it is what it is. What did bother me was the day of the Lee University protest over the remove of the Confederate soldier statue. What these kids endured to stand up for what they believe was right was horrifying. I seen one Lee University student get kicked another got spit on. Then there are the racial slurs. It was like the 1950s and 1960s all over again. I seen all this first hand and quite frankly, as a black man it scared the hell out of me. I have a family. My wife is white. My kids are biracial. The pure hate that I seen these people's eyes that were persecuting the Lee University students was unreal. And it was then at that moment that I said to myself. I'm moving my family from the south and I'm never going to return here again. I also said to myself I cannot in good conscience subject my family to the bigotry and racism and hatred that I have witnessed with my own two eyes today. I live in Ohio now with my family. But you have racism everywhere. I'm from Southern Indiana and I promise you there is a lot of racism down in that part of the state. Indiana be having KKK rallies and it's as conservative as any other conservative state but the rallies are never violent. But Cleveland Tennessee is the only place where I felt that myself and my family's safety were in possible jeopardy. They call this place the bible belt but the actions that I seen that day was anything but holy. Christ was about love. But the actions I seen that day was based off pure unadulterated hate.

I agree and it's shameful a h. I am honestly embarrassed at the downright ignorance of people here. I grew up here my whole life, and it's embarassing.

Don't forget the county commissioner at the time screaming racial slurs from the courthouse.
