I own a Colin Archer Pilot cutter made out of steel. have sailed her in 3-meter seas, stable as not a problem. Not fast but very stable She just takes it in her stride as if saying is that all you have to offer. the only drawback is the skipper me my abilities and confidence are the only thing holding me back. She comes out for a refit next year. new engine, new electronics B ang G and a cabin top extension then off to see the world. Best of luck with your travels.

I completely understand your trepidation on traveling. It’s spending money that could be spent on the boat. You are doing it the right way. Sleeping in the car. However, I’m surprised you didn’t make it just a tad more comfortable. Like a foam or hiking pad or something. Window blockers (homemade with cardboard and paint/fabric but it’s your trip not mine and you know what you’ll be comfortable with. Boat life to car life. No issues here. They are both traveling. And both have their quirks. And you can say I asked you to give your audience the reminder; to help support the content and the journey, “watch” all ads 30 seconds or less all the way through. Every little bit helps.

That cup holder i the SAAB was an expensive detail, that was over engineered compared to other cars (but not to SAAB standards). And yes, there are a loot of room for sleeping in the car. Lower the back of the passenger seat also make a good sleeping area. Practiced that lots of times. 🙂

I had no idea that there was Colin archer designs in steel. I've seen plenty of fibreglass. I grew up sailing a boat designed by Albert Anderson, a pupil(?) of Colin archer built in 1894 in gotenius warf in Göteborg. we restored and sailed her between 1991-2009 best thing I've ever sailed. She's in oslo last time i looked in to it. That is the cutter of love, life and all in between as far as I'm concerned ♡♡♡♡

The Colin Artcher's was originally built in my neighbour city. They are some absolutely gems when in their original wooden state🤩 I am lucky to see several of them still around each summer. Slow and rolling in the waves, but beautiful. I myself have partially grown up on first a 44 and then a 50 feet wooden fishing boat, with similar hull shapes. So I definitely have a weak spot for them. Brings back lots of good memories from when plastic boat was still outnumbered by the wooden ones and we felt that we had the Norwegian archipelago at our own disposal😍🚣🧜♀️
